I have over 13 years of managment expierence for several large retail companies. I love people and training and educating them on different things...really love seeing an individual grow as a person and an employee. I believe you must lead by example all the time. In order to get respect you must erase all titles and just jump in and lead...don't be afraid to do what you people do everyday to show them you are not better than them. Once you get to a certain posistion people automaticly fear you because of the title, so take a step back and remember what it was like before you had that title! Store ManagerAeropostale Sep 2005 - May 2008Position: Store ManagerThe District Manager approached me many months before I left Charlotte to interview with Aeropostale.I declined being happy in my current situation, later to be offered the position at Vanity that proved to be a disappointment. Being un-happy at Vanity I contacted Aeropostale about employment and was offered an abandoned store at the Quail Springs location. The former Assistant was managing and decided to step down. Then they hired from outside to the company, this manager cracked under pressure and left as well. Leaving the store in a total shipwreck when I arrived. I took on the challenge and it got better everyday with the help of great support managers behind me.July 2006- June 2008: Aeropostale I was given the opportunity to go and manage the store in Norman Due to a resignation of the store manager. This is a higher volume store in need of a strong leader to get the morale up. Which my district manager felt I could achieve this very quickly before holiday arrived. This is a challenge I have taken on before, and it was a success! I had 2 Assistants promoted to store managers in a year, and a sales lead promoted to Assistant Manager. Along with three promotions the store trended up 15% ytd and had increases in several measurables for the year. Store was in the top 20 stores for the year enabled product selection to grow for the customer as well.As a seasoned store manager with Aero I made it my goal that year to make it to “Partners in Progress”.I went to “PIP” and was recognized as one of the top 200 store managers in the company in 2007, in addition This store was the only store in our region (out of 100 stores) to get 5 100% on our “Give Ten” strategy during holiday. -
Store ManagerCharlotte Russe Aug 2003 - Aug 2006: Assistant (6 months promoted to Store Manager) with emphasis on L.P. and Training I was at the first location in Oklahoma City when it opened its doors on grand opening!!! How much fun was this to work on, and experience. I really knew I loved retail when I got to embark on this Journey. I hired 3 staffs and helped recruit managers for all of them. After it was all said and done I was a Store Manager, I then got to try many different things to get the ultimate result a perfect staff, a perfect store, and a perfect shrink result. But, before I got all those great things I had a bit to learn…. I had internal theft, bad managers, and last but not least the challenge of becoming bored with my job but still loving the company I worked for. Before I left, I was only 10 managers away from being in Club Maxx (hey top 30 isn’t bad) and a shrink result of .85 (yes under 1% from 3% in 1 year) I had many great achievements but my favorite achievement was being able to train all the newly hired managers for the Oklahoma City Market for 2 weeks. This was such an honor and was very rewarding for me. I will never forget the leaders I had at Charlotte and how much they taught me. I have used them to guide me to success all the way to where I am today.
