Hands down, this has been one of the most amazing jobs in my life. Working in the Emergency Department with an amazing staff of technicians, nurses, and doctors, it was my privilege to work one-on-one with kids and their families to help them in their hour of need.Was it hard? Of course it was. It's an Emergency Department. We saw harried parents, desperate to help their sick children recover. And, in most instances, we were able to perform nothing short of miracles on a daily basis. Dehydrated children came in, staring at us with blank eyes, only to leave full of life and excitement (and with popsicles in tow). We stopped seizures. We healed fevers. And, with the help of the rest of the hospital, we managed and/or cured diseases. Yes, we saw our share of heartaches, as we had to stand by families as they said goodbye to the littlest among us. But it was our honor to stand by them, offering what comfort we could.How I will always love and miss Primary Children's Hospital: the Child First and Always.
