As a Research Associate, I support philanthropic clients with their development and project needs. I help clients achieve their goals by distilling and translating large amounts of data and research findings into concise, usable formats.

The Texas MBA+ Program is an experiential professional development program designed to grow influential business leaders through a customized series of initiatives in partnership with established firms in a variety of industries. Students who apply and are accepted will be given the opportunity to prepare a deliverable on an actual project of a firm and develop critical and tangible skills in doing so.

In addition to managing communications between the Executive Director, grantees, and partners, I carried out a hiring process by composing position description and interview guides; reviewing applications; leading first-round interviews; and regularly communicating with applicants.

I designed and performed a research process on funder collaborative organizational models, including a landscape analysis and 28 informational interviews with the TRF members and leaders of external funder networks.

As a Research Analyst, I performed program and policy evaluation and planning for federal and philanthropic public health projects aimed at reducing rural health disparities and racial/ethnic health disparities with six interdisciplinary research teams. Tasks included contributing to business development by collaboratively drafting project proposals; analyzing quantitative and qualitative data and summarizing findings for the purposes of evaluation and reporting.

As a Research Assistant, I provided support to a large team of public health researchers, conducting policy and program analysis for clients such as Centers for Disease Control & Prevention, HRSA Federal Office or Rural Health Policy, DHHS Office of Women's Health, and CMS Office of Minority Health. I promoted health equity by assisting in a wide array of research and administrative tasks related to racial/ethnic health disparities and rural health disparities.

I produced a series of short videos highlighting the positive impacts of Fatherhood education programs using iMovie. I also gained experience using Qualtrics and Excel by tracking incoming survey results for a large survey project, and expanded my writing skills through literature review.

I promoted safer hospitals for Michigan nurses and patients by researching the relationship between staffing ratios and long shifts for registered nurses with adverse patient events. Part of my research involved interviewing Michigan registered nurses, which allowed me to better understand how staffing ratios and shift length are perceived and experienced by the nurses themselves. I was a joint intern between the Michigan Nurses Association and Representative Jon Hoadley, who is the representative for Michigan's 60th district. This joint relationship allowed me to collaborate with a policymaker, so that I could better understand how legislation is carried out at the state level. My position gave me the unique opportunity to understand a piece of health policy both on the ground-- through my work with nurses-- and at the Capital.Writing skills were critical in my position. While at MNA, I worked on two writing projects: a paper summarizing the importance of nursing staff ratios to patient safety, and a script for a public access television show, aimed to educate the public about patient safety in Michigan.

I mentored fifteen undergraduate students who were early on in their college career, but had an interest in conducting independent research. My work involved meeting with student groups to help direct their research projects and make sure that they were utilizing all of the resources that our research university provided access to.

My research work included: creating summary tables for literature review, finding articles to include in literature review, and researching products to be used for further epidemiological research. I concluded my time as a Research Assistant by conducting independent research related to racial concentration in neighborhoods and birth outcomes with the help of my mentor.

I assisted students consistently with their housing questions and needs, sorted mail and logged packages using an online tracking system. My position involved maintaining constant communication with coworkers and maintenance staff.

My work included: literature review and summary, writing, and presentation of research involving solutions to overuse of emergency departments and high hospital readmission rates.

I worked in the Office of Primary Care Access and the Office of Rural Health, where I developed a physician retention survey that was sent out to physicians who had partaken in Maryland's two physician loan assistance repayment programs. I used the survey results to draw up a report about physician retention in Maryland, so that my offices could better understand why physicians frequently choose to leave rural and high-need urban areas after completing their loan repayment programs.
