Work with distributed message-based systems using NServiceBus to create resilient, reliable back-end processes. Employ best devops practices including continuous integration & continuous delivery to break down the traditional sprint-based release cycles into smaller, more manageable chunks. Managed a robust service layer for normalizing communication with multiple third-party vendors and affiliates while creating a primary system of record with multiple read-models in a SQL Server high-availability database cluster. Lead an agile team of 8 engineers who oversaw a fintech startup's transition from a traditional monolithic application situated in a shared hosting environment into a microservice-based architecture hosted in AWS. Helped with production support activities and ensuring automated monitoring systems were kept up to date with systems like SumoLogic and NewRelic.

Work with Microsoft Mediaroom labs to provide support for software issues both within Mediaroom and the various platforms utilized by Mediaroom including Windows Server 2008, SQL Server 2008, Windows Phone 7, ASP.NET/IIS 7, ARR, WCF. Responsible for deploying new software to the labs and establishing best practices for how to deploy them in the future to other labs & production. Work closely with scalability testing teams to help obtain performance counters under various load scenarios using Visual Studio's Load Test features. Handle bug/issue triaging & feature requests between the client, system integrators and various Mediaroom development teams.

Building custom social networks & web communities using the versatile Community Server (CS) platform. Adding custom functionality to adapt CS to power many types of communities. Some examples include turning CS into an educational community, a managed/self-help product support community, and a product feedback community for beta testers & early adopters. Worked especially close with Microsoft on a number of initiatives.

Developing testing solutions for Microsoft Mediaroom. Helping customers like AT&T U-Verse design modern user experiences. Gained knowledge in IPTV infrastructure, distributed applications, and working to become proficient in diagnosing problems that can arise in such large-scale systems. Provided early on critiques of new technologies being deployed in Set-top boxes across the world.

Worked with the Solutions team designing custom Community Server communities, social networks and other Web 2.0 apps. Some projects included a Widget/Gadget community about hip-hop culture, the official Windows Vista Blog, a nursing industry community and many others. Lots of hands on work with large clients such as EA Games & Microsoft Heavy UI experience including asynchronous javascript and a broad range of browser support.

Served as one of the first developers for this startup hybrid Search Engine Optimization & Web Development firm. Helped design two content management system products, both with an emphasis on search optimization including extra tools to assist with search engine marketing. Also designed an extensible e-commerce system product with the same SEO emphasis. Helped numerous clients with on their online presense needs, including serving as a technical adviser for the SEO team.

Helped develop and build the e-commerce software used to run this low-overhead small business. Diagnosed and improved many aspects of the software, handled all technical aspects of the order lifecycle from the user's shopping experience down to automating order processing. Added features needed to track orders across many drop-shipping manufacturers and distributors, as well the RMA process.

Building solutions for the auto-insurance field - challenges included programming massive formulas for rating/pricing policies, and designing fast, stable & simple to use business apps which included complicated workflows and extensive reporting, retention, & regeneration requirements, and an automated document printing solution via a web browser. Technologies Involved: SQL Server, Classic ASP / Visual Interdev, COM, and lots of Excel spreadsheets for math problems.
