Dr. Kate Tulenko has worked for over 20 years creating, identifying, and scaling up innovations in the health, education, and social sectors in emerging markets. She led the world's largest global health workforce program for the US Government. Under her leadership, the program increased the number of health workers globally, including physicians and nurses; saved governments over a billion dollars; and developed systems that improve health worker recruitment, retention, productivity, and quality of care and reduce burnout. In 2017, Dr. Tulenko founded Corvus Health, a global health workforce firm that provides scalable services across the health labor market, including advisory services, M&A due diligence, financing, team optimization, quality and productivity improvement, recruitment, staffing, training, HR management, change management, etc. Dr. Tulenko and her team identify and address market gaps in the health, education, and social sectors. These gaps include telemedicine, senior care/geriatrics, sustainable international recruitment, and enterprise systems for emerging market health systems. Corvus Health designs strategic plans for the health sector workforce, which is the largest budget line-item in all health systems. Clients of Corvus Health include governments, hospitals, private equity firms, venture capital firms, health insurance companies, pharmaceutical companies, regulators, and health professional schools. Dr. Tulenko has a deep network in emerging markets and excels at deal sourcing. The global and regional health worker shortages and maldistributions that threaten the delivery of healthcare everywhere prompted Dr. Tulenko to found Appleseed Education, an EdTech platform to digitalize, expand, and improve nursing schools to train nurses for both developed and emerging markets. Appleseed’s goal is to train an additional 1 million new health workers by 2035.Her expertise has been recognized through numerous awards, including her appointment to President Biden’s President’s Advisory Council on Doing Business in Africa, awarded as a finalist in the International Organization of Employers Migration Challenge, named one of “50 Women Experts in Global Health Security” by Women in Global Health, receiving the Eckhert-Fazen Award for Contributions to Human Resources for Health, named one of “300 Women Leaders in Global Health” by the Geneva Graduate Institute, and served as an Inaugural Fellow in the Rainer Arnhold Fellowship for entrepreneurship in global health.Dr. Tulenko and her team are available for expert consultations.
