My specialty is to review and quote homeowners and dwelling fire renewal policies. This entails reviewing claims, occupancy types, prior inspections, and mitigating current or potential hazards at a risk. I also troubleshoot our rating system and move risks to different insurance companies & contracts if need be. Within this position, I also assist in reviewing new inspections that are done on new and existing policies, and I also assist in quoting new submissions that are sent to us. My main focus though is renewals. We also work with our agency partners in Bookroll initiatives where we take a book of business from one broker to us. Much of this requires quoting and matching terms as apples to apples.

This role was an operations and processing role. One that focused on production, output, and a support role for the underwriting department. Within it, I learned how to review and process different aspects within the life of a policy. From binding new business policies, issuing policy declarations, issuing endorsements (non-money and money endorsements), processing cancellations and reinstatements, and working general correspondence within a file that doesn’t require underwriting review.

I handled incoming calls for our Billing/accounting department as a customer service representative. Taking payments on accounts, advising of payment status, refund status, policy status, and figuring out billing issues that may have occurred. I trained other CSRs directly. I also ran and worked different reports to make sure funds were applied correctly to accounts. As a refund specialist, I would work batches of accounts that had credits, unapplied payments, and return premiums. I would make sure that those funds truly needed to go out as a refund and assign the recipient of said refund. I also worked rush refunds and manually printed and mailed any rushed check.
