I have always been interested in how technology can help mankind and, as someone who has always been interested in geography, when I discovered GIS, I felt a natural affiliation with how it can be used for good. In my role as a GIS Consultant, working with the ArcGIS System, the world’s most powerful GIS, no week is the same. Working alongside Transport, Commercial and AEC customers, I get to influence change to not only these organisations, but their customers and the wider public as well. Seeing how ArcGIS can be used to enhance decision making and make a real difference in the world around us is hugely motivating. I came to Esri UK from university and have gained a huge amount of experience through the graduate scheme. Starting in tech support, I gained a greater understanding of the challenges faced by our customers. Working in pre-sales, I was fortunate to work with an experienced team with expert market knowledge from the retail sector to utilities and telecoms. Time with sales and marketing have developed my knowledge of the commercial side of business and exposed me to much more of what our customers can do with our technology.
