She has many characteristics which made her well suited to this: • She creates designs which are both aesthetic and reusable - this makes it cheaper for her to produce variations, and also builds a shared visual language for what concepts relate to each other. • She is interested in and keen on understanding the underlying mechanics and gameplay rules which support the elements she is designing. This is extremely important in such a complex environment, since many of the concepts which need to be conveyed can be quite abstract. By thoroughly understanding them she can better relate them to existing designs and ultimately better inform the users about what is happening. MMO gameplay has many complex states which require subsecond decision making, so clarity is of extreme importance. • She is good with time estimates, works hard, and delivers under pressure and within time constraints. • She is technically savvy enough to get assets into the game. Being able to rapidly iterate on designs and actually see them in-game rather than in screenshots is extremely important when distinguishing between designs that actually work vs. designs that simply look cool. • Most importantly, she creates extremely appealing designs.
