I currently work as a Civilian Contract Specialist at Joint Base Andrews for Air Force District of Washington (AFDW). I am in a 3 year training program to become a warranted Contracting Officer. In this position I am learning the government acquisition process from start to finish. This includes solicitation, market research, evaluation of contractor bids, and the award/post award processes. Following the completion of my undergraduate degree, I worked as an English teacher for Hangzhou Foreign Languages school in Zhejiang, China. This was a great experience that was able to push me out of my comfort zone. I also was able to further my Chinese speaking skills.During my time at James Madison University I spent three summers as a Student Assistant at the New York State Department of Health, Division of Health Care Contracting and Oversight. Here, I gained valuable workplace experience, ranging from tracking changes to state & federal healthcare law for internal use, creating a work plan for the New York State Governor Medicaid Redesign Initiative, and developing an activity matrix used to track actions and decisions for program implementation. I also gained considerable experience designing and maintaining multiple Access databases that are still in use today.I completed my senior honors thesis at James Madison University on incentives for fraud in carbon dioxide cap and trade emissions reduction programs. The full paper is attached below. I have also had the opportunity to work with the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services. During my internship, I gained experience updating the Missing Persons Clearinghouse and assisting in the organization of the Annual New York State Police Officer Memorial Service.Throughout my time at James Madison University, I have gotten the opportunity to pursue leadership positions in the various organizations I became involved in.
