Serve as a wildland firefighter and emergency responder on a statewide basis. Duties include the operation of heavy firefighting equipment as well as Type 1-7 Engines, use of firefighting hand tools, and perform ground reconnaissance on wildfires. Assists the Regional Fire Coordinator with the delivery of the Capacity Building programs to volunteer fire departments as well as municipal fire departments. Maintain assigned state vehicles, transport/dozers and other emergency equipment to ensure a constant state of readiness. Provide support for Forest Resource Development programs as requested and support other Texas Forest Service programs as requested. Manage and account for Texas Forest Service credit cards in accordance with applicable laws, policies, rules, procedures, and guidelines. Maintain a high physical fitness level in order to work in harsh environments with extreme heat, wind, smoke, and rugged terrain.
