Lieutenant Colonel Kyle L. Kirkpatrick, enlisted in the Idaho National Guard in 2000 as a Field Artillery Cannoneer (13B) and attended Basic Training and Advanced Individual Training at Fort Sill, OK. Graduating from Brigham Young University-Idaho, LTC Kirkpatrick was among the first of three to commission as Second Lieutenants from BYU-I in the United States Army where he was selected to the Air Defense Artillery Branch. After the Air Defense Artillery Officer Basic Course, he was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 44th Air Defense Artillery at Fort Campbell, KY. During his there, LTC Kirkpatrick served as an: Avenger Platoon Leader, Medium Truck Platoon Leader, and Assistant Operations Officer. From May 2005 to April 2006, he deployed in support of OIF as a Medium Truck Platoon Leader throughout Iraq and Kuwait. LTC Kirkpatrick then served as the first Executive Officer for HHC, 1st Space Brigade at Peterson AFB, Colorado Springs, CO. He later went on to serve as the Deputy Chief of Brigade Plans with 1st Space Brigade. After attending the AMD Captain's Carrer Course, he was assigned to the 6th Air Defense Artillery Brigade as the Brigade Adjutant during 6th ADA Brigade’s BRAC move from Fort Bliss, TX to Fort Sill, OK. After 21 months commanding B Battery, 2nd Battalion, 6th Air Defense Artillery at Fort Sill, OK he was selected to command A Battery, 3rd Air Defense Artillery Regiment (JLENS) at Dugway Proving Ground, UT for an additional 18 months. After completing Command and General Staff College at Ft. Leavenworth, KS, Kyle joined 5th Battalion, 5th Air Defense Artillery as the Battalion Executive Officer at Joint Base Lewis-McChord. In 2015/16 he deployed the Battalion TAC and one firing battery forward to Al Asad Airbase and Al Taqaddum, Iraq to fulfill an IFPC ONS within two months of notification. After his completion at JBLM, he was selected as the Joint Integrated Air and Missile Defense Officer on the Joint Staff J6, DDC5I, Joint Deployable Analysis Team, Eglin AFB, FL. While there, he was the project lead for DARPA’s Squad-X experimentation and multiple C-sUAS experiments and assessments for DTRA. In 2019-2020 he deployed his team in support of OUSD A&S and DOT&E for an updated assessment of currently deployed CUAS in the CENTCOM AOR. After completing his time on the Joint Staff, he was selected as the Deputy Chief of Staff for the 94th Army Air and Missile Defense Command at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam. He currently serves as the Deputy Director for the Pacific Integrated Air and Missile Defense Center (PIC) on JBPH-H.
