I am, fundamentally, a lover of communal dialectic and an information processor. In other words, I love it when people understand each other, and I love learning. These form the poles of my personality and shape my professional endeavors. I'm also a proponent of epistemic humility, which is required for doing both things well, and of trusting experts, which follows from being humble.Professionally, I am a strategic, careful thinker and effective communicator with more than ten years’ experience designing training materials and public-facing content, mentoring, speaking, researching, teaching, and managing projects, in higher education, non-profit, and independent collaborative settings. I have a PhD in philosophy, and I am an expert in disagreement and skilled argumentation, with understanding of how to assess expertise and navigate complex informational terrain with stakeholders who are guided by differing value sets and interests. I am an accomplished speaker and published writer, skilled at synthesizing complex information and delivering it in a succinct, clear, and compelling way to diverse audiences. After more than a decade in academia, I am now working as a lead learning designer on a learning experience design team, focusing on designing accessible learning experiences for adults. I have also dabbled in UX writing/content design and qualitative user research. I am passionate about using my knowledge in both technical and educational settings to help people improve their experiences with learning environments and technology so they can become more informed citizens and effective members of their professional communities.
