For me, "message matters."I am a communicator, both through words and through music. This is reflected in my career journey, which spans diverse roles in music as well as nearly a decade in the field of college admission and higher education administration.In every endeavor I'm mindful of how messages (musical and verbal) impact an audience or end user. My creativity as a communicator and musician flourishes when it has a destination, a product, an artifact to manifest, and end in mind. Upon that logic, I consider myself a “deliberate creative" because I thrive when the creative process leads to a concrete end result. My destination-oriented, pattern-seeking creativity is built upon my dominant strengths: Responsibility and strategic thinking. Responsibility fuels my deep sense of dedication and ownership to see a project through; my ability to think strategically enables me to find patterns, to identify an array of solutions, and to create understanding among parties throughout a project's implementation. These strengths have served me well in my diverse work experiences as a composer, conductor, organist, and tenor.Today, music remains at the center of my life. I am the Cantor (music director) at Seattle's Queen Anne Lutheran Church; I'm a composer with a growing body of published choral works performed and recorded across the U.S. for more than twenty years; and I'm the artistic director and conductor of Northwest Repertory Singers, an auditioned choir that lifts voices in song by fostering both community and the choral art.
