Responsible for overseeing a 15 week youth development program called “Life Skills.” The Classroom presentations assist students with building social skills, problem solving skills, self- improvement, and understanding the realities and dangers of drugs and alcohol. The students will learn valuable lessons to keep them focused and prepared as they transition into young adulthood and life.

Responsible for empowering community residents to create and implement block associations in urban communities to improve the communities overall health and well being . Developed and maintained community alliances with residents, human service providers, and state agencies. Provided visible, caring client service that resulted in residents receiving grants for home improvements and block beautification. Motivated residents to become a tighter unit and to advocate for themselves on things they wanted to change in their community.Delivered presentation on the BCHO model to Trauma Informed Care Practitioners across the country to discuss best practices in the field for community outreach in vulnerable communities.

The responsibilities of the diversion program case manager included ongoing contact with the program participants to monitor compliance with their Diversion Agreement and providing the youth/parents with referral information for community resources. Completed home visits and facilitated supportive services for family members to address special concerns. Represented the diversion program in the community; working collaboratively with the City of Pittsburgh Police Department, District Attorney's Office, Juvenile and Adult Probation Office, and local foundation leadership to pilot a new initiative in the community.

Under the leadership of the school principal and in collaboration with school staff members and community stakeholders,coordinated parent engagement activities to uphold the A+ core value of working in partnership with parents. Hosted events and created strategies that connected school staff and parents together, in a welcoming atmosphere. . Recruited and trained parents on how to create a PTO and to be advocates on the behalf of their children. Tracked parents volunteer hours.

As a Youth Support Partner, I served as an advocate and peer mentor for youth currently receiving services through Allegheny County’s Department of Human Services and the justice system. Youth Support Partners worked independently, as well as with teams, to assist youth in identifying and coordinating services, community resources and natural supports.Received a promotion to YSP supervisor, supervising 6 YSP’s, who averaged 15 to 20 individuals on their caseloads.
