As a store manager for Gamestop for over 4 years, I ran stores in Albuquerque and Santa Fe, NM as well as stores in Pasadena and Glendale, CA. I ran both mall locations and standalone stores. My first store in California, the Pasadena store, I took from being a troubled and under-performing store to the number one store in the Region. The team I developed in that store went on to run a number of other stores in Los Angeles area. After turning over the Pasadena store to my former assistant manager, I took over the highest volume store in the district. At the Glendale Galleria, a 5 million dollar store, I managed up to 30 employees, and won numerous sales contests, while consistently improving the store’s overall ranking.

As the manager of a 4000 square foot craft store, I managed up to 15 employees. In addition to our standard retail offering, our store offered custom framing, custom floral arrangements, and specialized crafting and art classes. In the short time I ran the store, I doubled the store’s class participation, through customer outreach, and increased our custom framing business by 50 percent, by improving sales behaviors.

I left Circuit City as a Sales Manager/Store Manager in Training without a store to go to. Within a year, I was promoted from being the top sales person in the district to a sales manager. Utilizing business analysis tools as well as hands on coaching, I was responsible for driving the sales of the 15 – 30 million dollar stores I worked at. Eventually as a senior sales manager, I was responsible for as much as 75% of the store’s total sales, and managed up to 40 people, both hourly and commissioned sales people.

My first couple of years in the Army were spent in specialized training. From basic training, I studied Arabic language and middle eastern studies, and from there I went on to human intelligence training, where I finished at the top of my class. I was then stationed at Ft Bragg, NC and deployed several times to various missions. Because of my aptitude, I was always chosen as organizer and planner for these operations. I was often in charge of about a 30-person intelligence team and was often commended.
