In early 2025 I will be co-leading a trip to Ecuador which explores the natural and cultural history of one of the most biodiverse countries on Earth. We will travel to the Galápagos, the Amazon basin, the cloud forest, and the high Andes, learning from local naturalist guides the whole time. I work with high school and middle school students to help them navigate academia, hone their individual learning styles, and become successful communicators.

Worked for two years at a local nonprofit in Central Oregon that connected children and families to basic-need services including food, safe shelter, eviction prevention, health care, and much more. Wrote 59 grants to over 30 grantors per year, surpassing fundraising goals; managed Bloomerang donor database and communicated regularly with donors; edited communications materials including annual newsletter, monthly e-newsletter, and speeches for fundraising events; provided support to board of directors and took meeting minutes; communicated with Spanish-speaking clients and connected them to advocates.

Worked as a tutor at ISU's Writing and Media Center, helping undergraduate and graduate students improve their communication skills in written, oral, visual, and electronic formats. Tutored international students from all over the world and participated in an Advanced Consultant Education course about how to better serve international Chinese students at ISU.

Implemented ISUComm Foundations Courses curriculum; created engaging lesson plans; held student conferences; graded consistently and fairly; helped students become better communicators overall.

Co-taught a multi-genre introductory workshop in fiction, nonfiction, and poetry.

Selected creative nonfiction submissions; discussed publishable work with fellow editors; communicated with authors regarding edits; wrote book reviews.
