Since the fall of 2015, I have worked as an academic affairs administrator at UTRGV. My responsibilities have included assessment, accreditation, program development, program review, curriculum development, and educational agreements.

Ensure that all accreditation and assessment activities at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) demonstrate ongoing compliance. Work collaboratively with academic and administrative personnel to monitor, document, and prepare reports demonstrating compliance with all accrediting agencies. Establish robust, university-wide assessment within Academic Affairs as well as within each division of UTRGV. Serve as liaison for the accrediting requirements of the School of Medicine and the Academic Colleges.

Responsible for serving as the chief academic officer of the College of Education and P-16 Integration which includes programs in curriculum and instruction, bilingual education, special education, elementary education, secondary education; and early care and early childhood studies, educational leadership, and counseling and guidance. Provide oversight of all aspects of the consolidation of The University of Texas-Pan American College of Education and The University of Texas at Brownsville College of Education including, but not limited to faculty hiring, staff hiring, organizational structure, curriculum consolidation, class scheduling, accreditation consolidation, academic policy approval, and development of the college leadership team. Position held concurrently with position of Interim Dean College of Education at UTPA.

Responsible for overseeing all operations of the College of Education including serving as an advocate for the needs and programs of the College of Education, supporting faculty in teaching, professional development and scholarship, assuring accreditation for all programs, actively seeking external grant and private funding support for departments and the college, cultivating and maintaining collaborative partnerships and programs with regional school districts and local agencies, and ensuring effective resource management.

Responsible for working closely with the Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education by overseeing ongoing efforts in curriculum, teaching, and assessment, as well as shepherding new initiatives with an emphasis on community college and P-16 partnerships with local education agencies and the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board.
