About Laura Roach

I am an experienced program manager who designs and delivers initiatives to address access to affordable housing and vital community resources. In addition to project management, my experience includes successes in grant writing and policy development. At NeighborWorks I have worked on diverse portfolios of projects, both nationally and statewide, related to economic development, housing, health, and community resiliency. As a grant writer and manager, I designed and implemented a new statewide human services initiative. My strong work ethic and commitment to accountability have allowed me to form and maintain sustainable partnerships with state and national organizations to support the program’s growth. In 2019, I competed in a federal grant competition and submitted the only proposal funded in Rhode Island, securing a future for the poverty-alleviating initiative. I am dedicated to service in the nonprofit/public sector and volunteerism because I want to live in a community where people look out for each other and work to advance society. I am always excited to connect with others who are interested in affordable housing, healthcare access, sexual health, and volunteerism, both domestically and abroad.

Listed skills include Public Speaking, Nonprofits, Microsoft Office, Research, and 30 others.

As the program manager for the new Accessing Home Initiative, I am able to incorporate previous research and evaluations I conducted on eviction prevention and asset management programming when I served at this organization in 2013. The Accessing Home initiative launched in 2016 and places AmeriCorps members across Rhode Island to deliver housing acquisition and retention services for low-income families that maximize net cash flow to non-profit owner. In first year of program, we partnered with 10 organizations throughout RI to implement model resident services and asset management programs at affordable and public housing developments. In the first year of the program I was instrumental in implementing the AmeriCorps program, with a total operating budget of $592,683, through partnership development, staff recruitment and onboarding, curriculum creation, and performance evaluation. I constructed program policies and procedures in compliance with federal and state regulations, including configuration of diverse online platforms required for reporting. The program remained in good standing following state and federal monitoring visits. I managed a cohort of 15 AmeriCorps volunteers throughout RI with the intent to cultivate a pipeline of trained and engaged affordable housing professionals. I also wrote a grant for $65,000 to fill a sudden gap in funding; this grant was based on a theory of change I crafted from previous research on the challenges facing affordable housing development in Rhode Island.
