About Laurie Williams

With over 30+ years of experience in education as a teacher, administrator, teacher-trainer, curriculum developer, and consultant, I have positively impacted children in both US public schools and international schools around the globe. Now a certified school garden educator, I am combining my years of education experience with professional training in gardening and horticulture to help schools integrate nature education into all grades and subject areas. School gardens are increasing across the nation because gardens grow a lot more than plants. Studies show that a garden can help raise academic achievement, be a living laboratory for STEM / STEAM classes, provide learning across all disciplines, help with stress, increase healthy eating habits, develop teamwork, and help youth understand their role as Earth’s caretakers. School gardens have the greatest positive impact when they are integrated across all disciplines and grade levels, and I provide consulting opportunities to help schools and districts incorporate gardening in natural, fun, and inspiring ways.
