State Data Coordinator
Current• Serve as South Carolina’s State Data Coordinator (SDC) for Institute of Museum and Library Services. Manage South Carolina’s participation in annual Public Libraries Survey (PLS) and bi-annual State Library Administrative Agency (SLAA) Survey. Work with Baker and Taylor consultant to write, test, and format South Carolina’s PLS questions, instructions, and data.• Collaborate with SCSL Agency Director, public library directors, and survey contacts to develop state-level questions and voting strategy for proposed federal-level questions. Organize state-level training in data collection, management, and entry. Develop visualizations using annual PLS data. Support SCSL strategic directions and goals by investigating and synthesizing publicly available statistics for use by SCSL Agency Director and leaders in presentations to legislators and partners.• Gather metrics and narratives for annual Accountability Report to Department of Administration.• Report to Program Evaluation and Management Director. Develop plan to collect and manage data from intra-agency departments. Centralizing metrics will allow SCSL to streamline reporting to Department of Administration and other external partners. Review agency’s Strategic Plan, Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA) Five Year Plan, and other assessment plans. • Consult with SCSL’s Library Development (LD) department. Assist with State Tour program to interview public library directors and select staff. This project will allow LD to understand the communities served by South Carolina’s public libraries; identify issues, trends, barriers, and opportunities; suggest continuing education for staff and programs for patrons; and tailor its approach to each outlet, system, and region. Review surveys and other assessment methods used to evaluate LD’s programs.• Create workbooks to track programs, participation, and performance.
