Field Manager
CurrentThe National Opinion Research Center conducts social science research projects. Every 6-8 months I take on a new project and the supervision of a new team of 15-20 Field Interviewers living all over the US who enter respondent’s homes to conduct interviews and gather data according to strict scientific protocols. I establish rapport with each team, coordinate their movements, strategize with them to locate respondents and gain cooperation from study participants. I train my teams in the unique details of each new study and its specific databases and programs. Interviewers are cold calling the public in person or by phone and I am their trainer, mentor, motivator, strategic coordinator and accountable supervisor. To succeed, I employ strong interpersonal skills, high organization and efficient tracking of details in multiple processes proceeding concurrently. I’m able to teach, inspire and motivate employees who do challenging, independent, creative work without the traditional support of a physical central office space. I keep each worker on track to meet specific production goals within the timeframe and budget of each project. Typically, I have single responsibility for seeing my team conduct between 500 and 900 interviews in 6-8 months with respondents from varied socio-economic backgrounds living in varied communities across the United States. I also handle their expense reports, timesheets, travel by car and air and cash payments to respondents accounting for 10-40,000 dollars per project.
