Lead Engineering for the Digital Foundations group at PagerDuty. Our mission is to improve customers’ digital operations through championing service ownership, improving real-time visibility into their operations and a better incident triage experience. The group consists of 2 teams: Service Intelligence and Visibility. Responsibilities include managing managers, directly managing a team, roadmap planning, execution and strategic partnerships with other groups and teams to execute on our mission.Under my leadership, we had a number of key accomplishments:Dynamic Service Dependencies launch - Responders can better triage incidents by understanding the state of dependent services during an incident. Includes machine-learning powered dependency suggestions to improve the state of the customer’s service dependency hierarchy and topology.Change Impact Mapping launch - Customers can now send change events to PagerDuty! This is critical for incident triage as ~80% of all incidents are caused by changes. Launched with first-class integration support for GitHub, Puppet Relay, and others.New Visibility Console Service Activity Module - Customers can view the real-time state of their digital operations through the use of a live-updating heat map visualization of incidents across their entire system.

At PagerDuty, I manage an engineering team within the Pipeline group building & operating PagerDuty’s mission-critical event ingestion-to-notification pipeline with a focus on high availability, fault tolerance & resiliency. The pipeline group owns 75% of PagerDuty’s tier 1 services: these are the services requiring the highest availability and resiliency and adherence to external SLAs to customers.A project I am particularly proud of was my team’s successful ground-up rewrite of PagerDuty’s mission-critical notification scheduling system; on time, on budget and with no customer impact. This is PagerDuty’s most complex service, responsible for orchestrating the signals from machines and human response activities in real-time to ensure the right person gets notified at the right time, reliably, every time. The new system significantly improved availability, scalability and operability - at half the cost.Another highlight was helping to drive significant contributions to PagerDuty's SOC2 compliance efforts.
