Unofficial patient advocate—it’s interesting to me that linked in chose this title for me when I’ve never called myself an “unofficial patient advocate” but I definitely am for my family. It all began when my husband was diagnosed w a brain tumor in early 2020 during covid & right now I legally can’t get into details about it, but please never think twice about advocating for your loved ones bc when they’re going through it, they have to focus on getting healthy. They NEED an advocate. I don’t care how young a person is. This healthcare system truly has no shame in its game. While there absolutely are good/ amazing health care professionals out there, they are far & few between. I’ve had to advocate for so many BASIC Healthcare needs for those with brain cancer, a widow-maker heart attack, a failing liver (I lost that one) as well as many other conditions I’m not able to or willing to share right now. I find it barbaric that someone needs someone like me to have to torture the medical staff to keep their loved ones literally JUST ALIVE. One day, I’ll be able to share the details of all of my personal journeys with the healthcare system and my family & sadly, I don’t think anyone around here would be shocked.
