I worked with the global team to design a campaign to use mass media entertainment to reduce stigma and change the narrative around abortion access. This pioneering initiative, launched in November 2016, was the first of its kind in Africa. I brought on board the former president of South Africa, Kgalema Motlanthe, to help raise awareness. This work included stakeholder meetings on country and regional level with individual leaders as well as with institutional leadership and national policy and decision making. Several rounds of engagement and collaborative decision making was required before agreement was reach in principle on overall goal, objective, and outcomes level with groups of external and internal stakeholders.
