I have been involved in transport for over 45 years. Just over 20 years in the private sector, and with the Ministry of Transport for 27 years. During my time at Ministry of Transport I have been involved in and managed many large road safety projects and initiatives. I represent the Ministry of Transport on many cross government agency Steering Groups and a member of the National Road Safety Management Group. My role at the Ministry is that of Sector Manager responsible for all safety related matters for both road and rail. One of my current tasks is the Ministry’s Programme Manager, a joint role with NZTA, ACC and the Police, responsible for the delivery of the current Safer Journeys Action Plan I have managed about 17 major transport legislative Transport Bills through Parliament and a large amount of Rules and Regulation changes. I have regularly presented to Government Select Committees. I am also the New Zealand Governmemt representative on WP29 which is the United Nations Global Forum for Harmonisation of Vehicle Standards, and the Australian AustRoads Safety Taskforce.
