About Leon Sacks

From April 2022 - June 2022 I became acting head of department in addition to achieving the ‘gold award’ in December 2021 and voted as being part of the best 6th form department in the country by the DFE. I have also been graded as 'outstanding' by OFSTED (April 2014), as a teacher of Sport and Public Services at NEW College Pontefract, and by OFSTED on April 5th, 2018 for All Out Cricket Coaching Ltd. I am responsible for motivating and inspiring the next generation to participate and make outstanding progress in BTEC Sport, A/AS level Sport and BTEC Public Services.I was responsible for helping students achieve 92% high grades in 2021-2022 (D/D* in BTEC Sport/Public Services) and promoting student achievement, attendance and punctuality whilst also raising pupil aspirations, providing them opportunities to gain entry to University or begin a career in either the sports or public service industry. I am regularly liaising with parents in regard to student progress and I contribute to the quality assurance of 10 teaching staff within the sport and public service faculty in order to ensure consistency of college policies. I am currently also a mentor for NQT staff in the department and responsible for the Assessment plan and Internal Verification of BTEC Sport coursework. In July 2018 I became a qualified UK Sports leader tutor for levels 1-3. In November 2021 I became a qualified Talented Athlete Scholarship Scheme (TASS) mentor. In June 2022 I became a qualified outdoor first aider.In the winter of 2018 I led New College Pontefract football team to winning the Yorkshire and Humber men's championship and in the summer of 2018, I led the cricket team to National success in winning the British Colleges finals at Edgbaston and then in 2017 at Trent Bridge cricket ground.
