Dance Place is a non-profit center of dance activity in Washington, DC offering performances, dance classes for adults and kids, and arts in education programs for youth. The facilities include two offsite dance studios, one onsite studio, and a 200 seat capacity black box theater. The Director of Production manages and administers production operation details of multiple productions and events with many occurring at the same time or in rapid reoccurring sequence in theaters and event spaces. Responsibilities included:- Reporting directly to the Artistic Director while working in collaboration with the Executive Director- Creatively solving production problems while working within the guidelines of labor agreements, existing inventories, and available schedules- Reviewing artist show contracts and technical specifications, and providing budgets, schedules, labor estimates along with production equipment and supplies- Creating and maintaining technical specifications of venues throughout the season- Providing long term and seasonal strategic oversight- Oversee the execution of all production operations throughout the organization- Creating a positive, inclusive and safe environment for all employees, guests and vendors while maintaining a timely and cost-effective execution of all production elements

The Technical Director serves as the technical point of contact and is responsible for operating, protecting and maintaining technical assets. The TD is responsible for coordinating and overseeing the different technical departments including set, lighting, audio and visual, as well as wardrobe and props. The Technical Director works closely with directors and designers to reach artistic goals within allotted times and resources.Responsibilities included:- Collaborate with artistic and production heads, to establish appropriate productionexpectations.- Coordinate schedules so that lighting, sound, set, and other crews have the time they need tocomplete their work.- Directly supervise production technicians, local crew, and interns.- Lead the setup and break-down of all performances.- Assess technical challenges and develop proactive solutions on the fly- Oversee loading and operation of all freight shipping.- Monitor production operations to ensure company standards.- Create and strengthen business relationships with venues, supplies, and labor leadership.- Oversee construction of scenic carpentry and new props.- Maintain historic props.- Maintain warehouse – including all tools and equipment/supplies- Establish and maintain a courteous rapport with facility users, the community, visitors,volunteers, and co-workers.- Supervise set up and breakdown of studio theater riser system, including rigging.- Maintain prompt communication with all staff via phone and email.- Train individuals on safe operation of tools.- Ensure safe working conditions- Maintain company owned theater space along with number of studios.- Ensure that all perishable supplies are at adequate levels- Procure and approve materials needed for large scale projects.- Acknowledge and understand the TD position is the last line of defense for technical problems- Foster an open and accepting work environment for all
