Liam carries out a wide range of commercial, operational and procurement activities from contract award through to final account agreement on a number of Demolition, Remediation and Civil Engineering projects, including Liberty Park Widnes Infrastructure Works, Icknield Port Loop Remediation and Rochdale Riverside, helping all projects are progressed correctly and efficiently.Projects vary from £300,000 to £2,500,000 and are undertaken both as Principal Contractor and Sub-Contractor. Over 75% of projects are now awarded from repeat Customers.Liam supports the Marketing & Estimating Department sourcing suitable projects and assisting in the Tendering & Tender Sign-Off process.

Construction Partnership Uk - Crescent Road, Crumpsall

Remediation, Bulk Earthworks and Drainage works to aid development of site for 44nr residential properties. Works included the construction of a containment cell in the Public Open space for the invasive species, asbestos containing materials and occupiers waste. The site was then remodelled and a cut to fill earthworks operations undertaken to form 3nr development plateaus due to the sloping nature of the site, plus 2nr criblock walls. The highways drainage was then installed, including pipework up to 1200mm diameter and 5m depth.

Homes England - Mile Bank Farm, Whitchurch

Demolition of former Dairy Farm and tanks and removal of concrete slabs and foundations, cut to fill operation to form plateau levels for the new residential developments. Works also included substantial environmental works including 2,500m of newt fencing, the construction of 4nr ponds and new wildlife habitat areas and the re-housing of bats present on site prior to the commencement of works on site.

Chancerygate - Merseyreach, Aintree

Remediation of former industrial site to enable the development of 5nr retail and industrial units. Works included the removal and crushing of 17,000m³ reinforced slabs and foundations, the construction of an on-site containment cell for NORM1 radioactive, hydrocarbon impacted and asbestos containing materials, cut to fill works to form plateaus for the construction development. An acoustic bund with acoustic fence was then constructed along the residential boundary of the site, to shield residents from the proposed development.

Stoford Developments - Liberty Park, Widnes

The construction of a new 700m access road, to support the construction of 3nr distribution facilities. Works included drainage up to 1200mm diameter, a new foul pumping station and rising main, construction of criblock retaining wall, the construction of 2nr substations and interface with Independent Connection Provider, and full road construction. Works were undertaken adjacent to West Coast Main Line railway and required ongoing dialogue with Network Rail, and in concurrence with the construction of the 1st distribution warehouse.

Willmott Dixon Construction - Rochdale Riverside

Remediation of town centre site to enable proposed Rochdale Riverside Development. Works included the removal and crushing of 15,000m³ reinforced slabs and foundations, and remediation to 4m below ground level. The site was re-engineered using a cut to fill operation, lime modification and cement stabilisation to mitigate the need for piling in a number of areas. Works were successfully completed safely, on-time and within budget, despite working in a severely restricted site with significant live services and highways open to the public passing through the development.

Icknield Port Loop, Birmingham

The design, remediation and validation of a former industrial site in Birmingham City Centre. Our works included the demolition of a number of structures and 20,000m³ of reinforced concrete slabs and foundations, a cut to fill operation of 90,000m³ to form plateau levels for the new residential developments, bio-remediation and placement of hazardous materials at depth and the construction of a new 300m length canal wall to Canals & River Trust Heritage standards. The site was remediated achieving nil disposal to landfill. CPUK Civils and Remediation are currently negotiating the next phase of the development, due to commence in Spring 2020.

Peel Ports - Heysham Port Linkspan

The demolition and removal of the existing bankseat and construction of new bankseat to support a new, larger linkspan and aid the development of Heysham Port. Works undertaken in a live port environment adjacent to existing linkspan. Works undertaken in tidal conditions, often resulting in double shift working. The next phases of works were successfully negotiated which included the construction of a small craft berth, repairs the existing quay wall, the repair and maintenance of existing access routes and construction of new hardstandings for storage and parking.

John Sisk & Son - Celtic Manor Convention Centre, Newport

Site Clearance, Bulk Earthworks and Soil Stabilisation to enable the construction of a new convention centre adjacent to the existing hotel, including new foul and surface water drainage to the new building, significant drainage diversions, installation of new foul pumping station and rising main. Construction of reinforced embankment for new highway access to the development.

Ae Yates - Cutacre Country Park, Logistics North, Bolton

Construction of new ponds and swales, and construction of landscape mounds and viewing platforms to new country park development behind new distribution centres. 3rd phase of earthworks utilising over 2,000,000m³ from the development of industrial area to form 550 acre country park and nature conversation area

Robertson Construction - Kings Wharf O&M Facility, Birkenhead

Enabling works, groundworks and external works for new Dong Energy Operations & Maintenance Facility. Works include site clearance, earthworks, drainage, ducting, reinforced concrete foundations, ground beam and ground floor slabs, granite paving and surfacing works.

Staffordshire Alliance (Laing O’Rourke, Volker Rail & Atkins) - Saip, Stafford

The bulk earthworks to enable the construction of 10km of new railway on the West Coast Mainline, adjacent to the existing railway. Works include the excavation of 1,000,000m³ of topsoil, subsoils and mercian mudstone, and placement in structural embankments and landscape mounds, the installation of 25,000m of temporary and permanent drainage, the construction of 5,000m of surfaced haul roads, river diversions and attenuation ponds, ground improvement works, earthworks to bridge construction works, silt mitigation works, construction of 3nr compounds and junction improvement worksThe construction of 2.5km of new highways and the realignment of existing highways following our bulk earthworks operations to new West Coast Main Line alignment. Our scope of works included traffic management, installation of 4,000m drainage, 6,000m kerbing, capping and MOT Type 1, 22,000m² of full depth surfacing, road markings, street lighting and vehicle restraint system installation works.

Bam Construction - Unilever Amc, Port Sunlight

Scope of works included the site clearance, excavation and removal from site of 40,000m³ of surplus material and import of 10,000m³ capping layer, installation of new drainage and 300m³ attenuation tank installation, pile cropping and capping beam construction, in preparation for construction of new Advanced Manufacturing Centre.

Galliford Try - Fairbourne Flood Risk Management Scheme, Wales

The construction of 2,000m of new flood defence embankment and the strengthening of the existing flood defence embankment in a Site of Specific Scientific Interest in West Wales. The works required the import of 20,000m³ granular material and 15,000m³ of cohesive material from on-site Borrow Pit. Other works included the diversion of existing brooks, installation of 2000mm pipework and 2nr headwalls and access stairs, haul road construction and footpath construction.

Bae Systems Properties - Warton Aerodrome, Preston

Demolition and Bulk Earthworks for residential development requiring the breakout of 15,000m³ of reinforced concrete slabs and foundations, and crushing to 6F2. Bulk earthworks including 40,000m³ cut to fill, and disposal off-site of 15,000m³ of material, and capping of site and proposed highway using 6F2 generated from the works.

Bae Systems Properties - Rof Bishopton Phase 1, Glasgow

Phase 1 of the remediation and earthworks ROF Bishopton, to enable the construction of Dargravel Village, a mix of residential and industrial developments. Works included the remediation of 102 hectares, including the construction of an on-site landfill cell and treatment facility, the demolition of approx. 200nr buildings and 80,000m³ of reinforced concrete slabs and foundations, excavation and disposal of 35,000m³ non-hazardous and hazardous material to on-site landfill cell, excavation and removal of 500,000m³ of unsuitable material to on-site landform mound and import of 300,000m³ of fill from site borrow pit to construct development platforms. The installation of 3,000m of drainage up to 1200mm diameter, earthworks up to capping level for new site roads, construction 4nr SUDS ponds and widening of existing burn.Earthworks for new access road into Dargravel Village, including the excavation of 40,000m³ of clay and deposition in landscape bund, breakout and crushing of 25,000m³ of rock, drainage works and highways capping.Following the successful completion of this phase, over 5 years of future works on this project were awarded, via both tender and negotiation.

Bae Systems Properties - Orica Roburite Centre, Shevington

Remediation works of former Orica UK Ltd site adjacent to Leeds and Liverpool Canal, including the excavation and disposal off-site of 30,000m³ contaminated soil, grubbing up and crushing 20,000m³ reinforced hard standings and foundations and 100,000m³ cut to fill earthworks to generate the required formation levels for residential developments.

Bae Systems Properties - Buckshaw Village, Chorley

Demolition and Bulk Earthworks requiring the breakout of 1,000,000m³ of brickwork, reinforced concrete slabs and foundations, and crushing to 6F2 and MOT type 1. Bulk earthworks moving 2,000,000m³ of material, either to construct development platforms for industrial and residential platforms, or to on-site landform.The construction of landfill cells for the deposition of asbestos containing materials and materials containing munitions, with the capping and landscaping of cells upon completion of the contract. The construction of 7.3km of new highways and infrastructure to adoptable standards including associated drainage and attenuation, including brook and services diversions.11nr additional phases negotiated during this period due to success of previous phases,

Liam spent a period of three years in the Estimating department, being involved in the pricing and securing a large number of demolition, earthworks, remediation and groundworks contracts up to a value of £8,000,000. During this period, he was also involved in securing a number of framework agreements, notably the 20/20 Liverpool HMRI Demolition Framework and the CCMS Liverpool Framework.

Harrow Estates - Waterloo Road, Blackley

Remediation of former ICI factory adjacent to River Irk, including disposal of 5,000m³ of contaminated material, treatment of material containing Japanese Knotweed, 150,000m³ cut to fill earthworks, lime modification works, river improvement works, bridge abutment repairs. Construction of new site access road including section 278 works, including 750m of foul and surface water drainage, capping, kerbing, service installations, surfacing, road markings and street lighting works.

Laing O’Rourke - M62/M57 Junction Improvements

Bulk earthworks for construction of new slip roads between M62 and M57 including the excavation and haulage of 200,000m³ across Tarbock Island to form new road embankment, site clearance of former wooded area including stump grinding and removal off-site, excavation and backfill for 3nr bridges.

Liam started his career at D Morgan in August 2003 as an Assistant Quantity Surveyor on a year’s work placement from University, working alongside the Senior Quantity Surveyor’s on a number of demolition, remediation, earthworks and highways contracts, including Mere’s Edge, Helsby, Trafford Centre Extension and Liverpool John Lennon Airport External Works. Following his successful work placement, he completed his degree course on a part-time basis to continue working and soon became solely responsible for the cost management a number of contracts valued between £100,000 and £750,000.
