Using mentoring schemes through University, I was able to work with T&A full-time for 3 months during the Summer break and went on to continue working part-time during my final year. I am now working full time after graduating from University.I have gained valuable skill whilst working with T&A, preparing me for the Graduate QS role. Some of my duties have included;- Measuring and creating cost estimates/bills within CATO using SMM7 and NRM- Attending Design Meetings- Carrying out valuations and issuing the relevant certificates- Tender Analysis /Cleandown- Site visits- Attending in-house CPD events- Connect with contractors to determine final accountsI am closely involved on various projects ranging from agricultural to residential. These provide a range of learning opportunities.I have recently enrolled onto the RICS APC scheme to begin the process towards membership.

T&A and PlanB have worked together on various projects since forming a joint venture in 2012. As a result I was offered the excellent opportunity of working overseas with PlanB for 6 weeks, assisting with CSA based work for one of their largest client, Intel. Over the course of my secondment I was responsible for creating multiple estimates for builders work items supporting various large MEP systems to generate benchmarking systems which will be used for future costing projects. I also assisted on ad hoc exercises to aid the client and colleagues.During this time I have expanded my construction technology knowledge and overcome challenges including familiarising myself with a foreign method of measurement, client specific processes and have gained valuable experience with BIM including the use of MEP schematics to identify pieces of equipment in order to locate these and measure directly from the model.My time is the U.S. has strengthened my ability to overcome challenges in a short period of time, adapt to new teams and has also allowed me to demonstrate my ability to work under pressure in new situations.
