Working on the future Submarines capability, working with the Strategic Weapons System (SWS) team assisting the head of SWS in all project related work/issues and collating and managing all financial reporting. The SWS team work with our partners in the USA and in the MoD to develop a nuclear weapon capability integrated within a Nuclear powered submarine to allow the country to meet CASD. Main responsibilities involve: Managing and coordinating the forecast and planning of spends whilst building this into the CAM (Cost Account Manager) Coordinating and delivering the SWS reporting packs into the Ministry of Defence and BAE Senior ManagementInputting and delivering risk reviews, focusing on the risk and opportunities to the SWS programme and their potential impact on the programmeMonitoring and reporting on resource levels, (hours/materials available)Working to and delivering set monthly milestones, to feedback to the business and customer on the progress of the projectMonitoring and reporting on the teams material spends and providing data back to the businessManaging the projects baseline and taking corrective action where necessaryLeading on the development of Level 4/5 Test and Commissioning Plans to support the Dreadnought programme and maintain the countries' Continuous at Sea Deterrent

Involved intensive stakeholder management of a wide variety of functions internally, and external stakeholders including the Ministry of Defence. Primary work involved creating and managing a robust configuration control system to cover the 2000+ components. Management of drawing and manufacturing functions to ensure components were completed in-line with the build schedule, as well as tie-in with the Engineering functions to ensure consistency between the latest design and the product itself

I began my career at BAE Systems on the Project Management Graduate Development Framework. Being a part of this scheme afforded me the opportunity to try out numerous different roles with the business, allowing me to gain a thorough understanding of all stages of the project lifecycle. Whilst a Graduate I gained experience on the Risk Management team of one of the most complex build projects in the world, and played a key role in seeing that the dangers to this programme were successfully managed and mitigated. As well as this I was able to work on one of the newer projects which was still within the design phase. On this project I spent time in several different teams. As well as gaining a crucial understanding of the issues and processes involved in a marine engineering environment, I was able to gain an understanding of the way such complex projects were managed, and how to best to forge and maintain relationships with a variety of internal and external stakeholders in a highly demanding environment.
