I’m a medical doctor from Ireland, now based in Melbourne, Australia who has made the transition from hospital based acute care to integrative primary care, using a functional medicine approach. I currently work with Melbourne Functional Medicine and have previously worked in renowned Melbourne hospitals, such as St. Vincent's, The Royal Melbourne and Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre. I graduated from medical school in University College Cork in Ireland in May 2017 and have previously received a masters degree in Human Cognitive Neuropsychology from the University of Edinburgh in 2013, as well as a bachelors degree in Neuroscience from University College Cork in 2012 for which I was awarded a first class honours, and a nomination for student of the year in Science and Technology. My hospital medical experience includes the specialties of rheumatology, haematology, emergency medicine, gastroenterology, psychiatry, general medicine, obstetrics, vascular surgery and aged care. I am passionate about the potential for the alleviation of chronic disease through a more thorough, root-cause investigative approach, as well as by using more holistic lifestyle-based treatment plans. It is my firm belief that health is a positive virtue to be pursued by everyone, and is not just defined by the absence of disease. I like to embody these principles in my own life by pursuing interests such as yoga, meditation, calisthenics and kettlebell training, as well as by following the paleo diet.
