I worked as part of a team which supports the ICT requirements of a large number of schools and businesses across East Sussex and beyond.I was the lead technician for over a dozen primary schools, with a wide range of requirements. I supported and maintained their existing hardware and software systems, and provided advice on spending and development in these areas when required. I worked flexibly to ensure that the needs of our customers were met and largely managed my own workload. This enabled me to plan ahead, yet act swiftly when required to respond to urgent high-impact faults. I also produced documentation detailing the steps taken to solve high-frequency issues.I enjoy building strong working relationships with our customers and developing their trust in our organisation. I was a member of a strong team with a diverse range of skills, and who support each other to pursue the best outcomes for our customers.

Starting from inspiration from a friend, I set up and run EPLUpdates as a site which provides live score updates from English Premier League Ice Hockey matches, along with a moderated chat-room for fans who are unable to attend matches. I ceased work on the website when the English Premier League came to an end at the conclusion of the 16/17 season.

I worked at Care for the Carers as a full-time Information Officer. My responsibilities included leading the social media presence, producing the e-newsletter, designing literature and information packs, and increasing awareness of both the organisation and of the value of carers to society at large.

I worked at the brand new Seaford Library, and was involved in moving and organising the stock from the temporary library to the new premises. I have been part of a great team who are responsible for stock management and maintenance, customer service, cash handling, ICT guidance and support, and more! It has been great to be involved in facilitating a big move like this, into a brand-new modern facility.After opening I was given particular responsibility for content presentation on the new digital signage system, which uses OneLAN CMS. I created templates and graphics when required, and worked with content created by our corporate communications department - ensuring that it fitted in with the rest of the template. It was often a challenge to balance the requirement to be responsive, with the requirements of reporting to multiple levels and branches of management - but was one which puts my diplomacy skills and awareness of public sector working practices to good use.I found myself a niche specialising in finding books for dyslexic and reluctant younger readers, and enjoyed the challenge of finding titles which fit specific requirements around given themes or character traits. I also produced a range of materials which helped readers at a range of ages to find their next reads based on popular series (Diary of a Wimpy Kid, The Hunger Games, etc.) and were distributed to other branches. During my time at Seaford Library, I also produced a 'manual' covering some of the more complex and less common procedures required of library staff. This manual has since been distributed to many other branches across the county, and is in use to this day.

Working as a library assistant in a branch library in East Sussex. I interacted with customers, often dealing with complex queries. I managed my own workload, balancing routine tasks with the immediate and changing needs of the customers. I learned a lot about what other people are reading, advised readers young and old regarding finding books similar to those they've already finished, and more.

I worked largely in a customer-facing role, answering user queries via email, phone, helpdesk postings, and in-person. My responsibilities included installing and maintaining both hardware and software assets, including computers, laptops, projectors, smart-boards, printers and the internal telephone system.

I started out teaching Introduction to Web Design (then CLAIT Module 7) as a 10-week evening course for adults. From there, with agreement from my line-manager, we scrapped the adherence to the external syllabus, and I produced a course specification of my own which was more flexible and made it possible to deliver additional content within the allocated course hours. I then took on the 17-week Intermediate Web Design course, and again, produced my own course specification and materials (most of which are available on my website at http://www.kateglover.co.uk/teaching.php) including a small executable tool I wrote to help students get used to RGB colour-mixing and using hex-codes to apply colour to web pages.Later, I gained further experience by covering numerous Functional Skills ICT classes, usually at short notice, which brought with it the additional challenges of working with disengaged students and a wide variety of abilities in every group. I extended my materials for these classes to help to allow for the differentiation, and ensure that I could provide support for less-able students, while ensuring that the more experienced students had stretch tasks to complete to prevent them from getting bored.

I worked as a centre assistant with general duties such as customer service, cash handling, opening and closing procedures, and cleaning, and had additional duties with regards to hardware purchasing and repair, network configuration and maintenance, and software/games support in a busy internet café/gaming centre in Eastbourne.
