Project management: Leadership role in development and application of clinical research protocols and was responsible for the overall management of a ~$1 million USD project investigating endothelial dysfunction in diabetic patients. Decision-making role in a team of 4 research nurses and 1 research assistant to ensure the timely delivery of project milestones.Grant: Successful applicant of a competitive Science – Translational & Applied Research (STAR I) grant offered by Alexandra Health System, with ~ $75,000 USD funding to study familial factors associated with disease progression among type II diabetic patients (Ref: STAR16110)

Thesis: Development and Application of New Approaches for Studies of Influenza- Induced Inflammation and DNA Damage.-Investigated significance of DNA damage and repair in mouse model of H1N1 Influenza infection. Discovered that viral infection induces DNA double strand breaks and elicits DNA repair pathways during inflammation-mediated viral clearance and tissue recovery. Findings were published in Cellular and Molecular Life Sciences.-Intellectual and experimental contributions in subsequent studies of pulmonary genotoxicity in animal models of asthma and bacterial pneumonia.-Collaborated with scientists from Yale University to explore the use of a pH-specific peptide for targeting inflamed lungs during influenza infection. Findings led to a first-author publication in Future Microbiology.

-Designed single-cell PCR assay to validate the mechanism of Homologous Recombination (HR) in RaDR mouse at the Department of Biological Engineering, MIT, leading to a co-authored publication in PLoS Genetics. -Working understanding of CometChip assay.

-Supervised more than 50 undergraduates from Life Sciences major and the NUS medical school-Mentored undergraduates in experimental techniques and theories

- Commenced on a new research project that investigates the effects of Dengue infection on Natural killer cells and gamma-delta T cell responses-Contributed in the publication of two research studies in Journal of Immunology

- Intern journalist at Lian He Wan Bao, a local Chinese newspaper in Singapore.- Published multiple Chinese articles in the evening papers during 5 weeks of internship
