I led a committee of around ten people responsible for organising a number of social and employability events for Accounting and Business students at Strathclyde. This included employability events with our sponsor PwC, which each time were massively oversubscribed, resulting in multiple sessions being held. as well as the Strathclyde Business Christmas Ball which was attended by over 630 people and raised £1000 for St Andrews Hospice. Our efforts culminated in the Accounting and Finance Society being awarded the Best Course Related Society at the University of Strathclyde in the academic year 2015/2016.

I was personally asked by the president to enter into this position after the previous treasurer left the committee suddenly. I was responsible for the reviewing of the society's accounts and processing payments and income as well as providing advice to the president and committee ahead of planning major events such as concerts which require heavy investment. I was also heavily involved in applying for funding from our University. My efforts resulted in renomination 3 years in a row by my peers. One of our largest projects was to organise a concert in Kelvingrove Art Gallery for all of Strathclyde University's music society and which required £5000 of investment which won University of Strathclyde's Best Collaborative Event in 2015. We also arranged a band trip to Ireland where we held a joint concert with our sister band, Ardee Concert Band who also held a concert with us in Glasgow and a residential camp in Biggar. Our efforts resulted in being awarded the Best Music, Arts and Media Society award for the University of Strathclyde in the academic term 15/16.

I was a general committee member of Strathclyde Accounting and Finance Society since the second semester of my first year at University. Since then, I was a vocal and proactive member and heavily involved with planning many of our social events, including Christmas 2013 HASS and Business Ball which was attended by 300 people. I also had a strong presence at many of our employer relation events and try my best to explain to our members the importance of these events in securing themselves internships and graduate positions.

A position on the committee responsible for reviewing the society's accounts and processing said payments, sponsorship deals and income, and supporting the committee by providing them with accurate and timely financial information and estimates so they can decide on the best plan to folllow through with events they wish to hold, lead by the presidents of the commitee.

One weeks shadowing experience within the firm, where I began to understand the day to day aspects of being a director as well as being able to review my skills in a professional environment.
