In my role as Program Advisor, I provided strategic guidance and support across a wide range of organisational functions, including governance strategies, policy development, fundraising, and program management.During my time at HFH Fiji, I have led efforts to strengthen governance by creating and upgrading board papers, information papers, and policies, working closely with legal on constitutional revisions and compliance. I developed the organisation’s first Resource Development Plan and played a key role in the creation of the five-year strategic business plan.I successfully helped secure $6 million USD in funding for the Nabavatu Relocation Project in Vanua Levu by leading the proposal development process. Additionally, I raised independent funds for a community facing severe health challenges. I have worked extensively with stakeholders on compliance and funding matters, often fostering relationships through both formal and informal engagements.In terms of program development, I oversaw the growth of the program department, enhancing proposal tools such as budget templates, enterprise risk frameworks, concept notes, and logical frameworks. I also delivered training in health and safety, risk assessment, and policy socialisation. I led upgrades to IT systems, including the design and installation of the UPS system, and spearheaded improvements to internal and external communication infrastructure, including the website and communication tools.One of the highlights of my tenure was producing a short documentary film, a collaborative project that I found both exciting and rewarding.

In July 2017, I founded LJ Electrical Testing Ltd, which eventually became Elecsia Ltd in 2018, an electrical contracting firm based in Hampshire, U.K. (Company No: 12104627, VAT No: 276170984). Elecsia was an NICEIC-accredited (610176000) and insured company (Insurance No: BOL/872132341U00010), dedicated to delivering high-quality electrical services to industrial, commercial and residential clients. Under my leadership, Elecsia achieved ISO 9001 certification (285392018) through QMS International, demonstrating our commitment to excellence in service delivery and quality management.As the founder and director, I managed all aspects of the business, including governance, operations, and finance. I was responsible for strategic decision-making, client relationships, and day-to-day operations, ensuring profitability and compliance with industry regulations. I also developed key policies, systems, and procedures to support the company's growth and operational efficiency.Elecsia provided a wide range of services, including electrical consultancy, installation, commissioning, maintenance and electrical testing solutions, such as Electrical Installation Condition Reports (EICR) and Portable Appliance Testing (PAT) to ensure compliance and electrical safety. Al-Ahsa, Eastern Region, Saudi Arabia

I worked as a consultant for TÜV Rheinland Arabia, and I was based at the National Industrial Training Institute [NITI] which is the largest training facility in Saudi Arabia, and I was second to Dr. Frank Wenghoefer the institute lead. In my time there I developed and refined curricula and assessment systems for all the training programs used in each of the technical fields. My work covered electrical technician training, maintenance mechanic programs, field metals training, operations (B.O.C. & R.B.O.C.), and instrumentation (P.C.S.T.). I ensured that the curricula met industry standards, incorporated best practices, and were tailored to the specific needs of clients in the oil and gas sector.In addition to curriculum development, I delivered instructor-led training programs focused on critical skills for the oil and gas industry. I ensured that each program addressed the unique challenges and technologies in the sector, bridging knowledge gaps and enhancing workforce competency. I trained students in areas such as electrical, mechanical, field metals, operations, process control, covering areas such as electrical theory, lighting systems, battery systems, power distribution, motors and controls, motor-operated valves, and troubleshooting process control systems.A key part of my role also involved teacher training, where I developed programs to improve the instructional skills of educators. I focused on equipping trainers with the tools to deliver technical content effectively, ensuring both subject matter expertise and strong teaching methodologies.Throughout my time at TÜV Rheinland, I worked closely with major clients in the oil and gas industry, including Saudi Aramco, Yasref, Luberef, and Sadara to develop these training solutions. Finally, it is accurate to acknowledge that my work in developing these training programs was recognised by Saudi Aramco which helped secure our training contract for a further few years.

United Arab Emirates - Abu Dhabi

I worked as an Engineering and Mathematics teacher at ADVETI (Abu Dhabi Vocational Education and Training Institute) in Abu Dhabi, where I had the privilege of educating local Emirati students aged 14 to 24. My primary role was to prepare students for careers in industry by delivering vocationally focused training tailored to their future professional needs. While my core teaching responsibilities were in the areas of Engineering and Mathematics, I also taught English as a Foreign Language at the CEFR A1 level (Breakthrough/Beginner), helping students build foundational language skills critical for their academic and professional growth.In addition to my primary teaching duties, I played an active role in the 'Skills for Life' program, which aimed to equip younger students with practical skills and vocational knowledge. Through this program, I taught Robotics and Applied Sciences to students aged 8 to 16, fostering their interest in technology and innovation while developing their hands-on problem-solving abilities. These teaching experiences allowed me to support students across a wide age range and ability level, helping them build the skills needed to thrive in both academic and industrial environments.

Afghanistan - Kandahar, Helmand & Farah

I worked in Helmand and Farah provinces, Afghanistan, under the LogCap IV project, where I was subcontracted to DynCorp International. Serving as the Electrical Team Lead on Forward Operating Base (F.O.B.) Geronimo, I was responsible for ensuring the efficient and safe operation of the military airbase's electrical systems. My role required constant coordination with the head office in Kandahar and the project management team in Manchester, UK, to align with operational goals and safety standards.As consultant engineers, the team and I travelled extensively between military bases across southern Afghanistan, conducting comprehensive electrical testing and inspections of distribution systems. We were tasked with diagnosing and resolving complex electrical issues in challenging and often high-pressure environments. These efforts were critical to maintaining the safety and reliability of essential power infrastructure that supported both military operations and the base's day-to-day activities.A significant part of my responsibilities involved creating detailed technical reports and documentation. This included generating and updating electrical schematics, analysing system performance, and proposing solutions to optimise efficiency and safety. Additionally, I frequently engaged with base commanders and other key stakeholders to discuss electrical safety protocols, address concerns, and implement necessary improvements to meet strict compliance standards.This role demanded not only technical expertise but also strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills to navigate the unique challenges of working in these remote and high-security locations. My work contributed to the operational effectiveness and safety of critical military installations, ensuring the uninterrupted functioning of their electrical infrastructure.

Iraq - Baghdad, An Nasiriyah, Umm Qasr & Al Asad

I worked in Iraq under the LogCap III program for Kellogg Brown & Root (KBR), a subcontractor for the U.S. Government. Initially recruited to join the electrical maintenance department, I quickly transitioned to electrical testing, focusing on both prime and temporary electrical systems critical to the operation of military installations and support facilities. I travelled to several bases throughout Iraq, including Baghdad, Tallil, Al Asad, Umm Qasr, Bastion, plus other T sites.The work was often reactive, meaning the team and I were often called at any time of the day or night, put on helicopters and flown to different locations that had been attacked, and address urgent electrical issues, frequently involving the replacement or restoration of generators and transfer switch systems. My role demanded technical proficiency and adaptability to diagnose problems and implement solutions in high-pressure environments, under tight deadlines and often with very little sleep.As a supervisor within the electrical departments on several bases, I played a pivotal role in overseeing daily operations and ensuring the team met stringent performance and safety standards. My responsibilities included providing technical guidance and support to colleagues, as well as delivering accurate and detailed technical information, including charts, schematics, and compliance documentation, to the client. This required maintaining a thorough understanding of electrical codes, safety regulations, and project specifications to ensure all systems were in full compliance with U.S. Government, U.K. regulations and international standards. In addition to my supervisory duties, I often conducted electrical testing, maintenance and installation works, and I always contributed to the overall management of the electrical departments I served by coordinating resources, prioritising tasks, and facilitating communication between team members and stakeholders.

Dart Project - Slough

I was responsible for overseeing the electrical testing and commissioning of the electrical systems at the Dart Project, a high-capacity industrial data center located in Slough. This critical role required meticulous planning, technical expertise, risk assessment, permit to work systems, and HV and LV switching protocols.Over a six-month period, I coordinated and led a skilled team of twelve in conducting electrical testing and commissioning processes. This involved ensuring that all electrical systems were installed, tested, and calibrated to meet design specifications, operational requirements, and strict industry standards. The systems we worked on included generators and advanced power generation systems designed to provide reliable and continuous power supply, even under challenging conditions.I also managed the commissioning of the Power Management System (P.M.S.), which involved verifying and optimising the system's ability to efficiently distribute and monitor electrical loads across the data centre. Similarly, I oversaw the testing and integration of the Building Maintenance System (B.M.S.), ensuring it operated seamlessly with other systems to maintain a stable and efficient environment within the facility.Key components of my work included the commissioning of Uninterruptible Power Supply (U.P.S.) systems, which are essential for protecting data centre operations against power outages or fluctuations.My role required close collaboration with engineers, contractors, and project managers to troubleshoot issues, refine system performance, and deliver a fully operational and highly efficient facility. This experience further honed my leadership, project management, and technical skills, while contributing to the successful completion of a mission-critical project in the data centre sector.

I worked as an Approved Electrician on a variety of contracts for high-profile clients, including Connaught, Serco Defense and Aerospace, Basepoint, PML Flightlink. Hampshire County Council, Gosport Borough Council, East Hampshire District Council, Royal Berkshire Fire & Rescue, and the University of Portsmouth and Highbury College. I began my electrical journey with Premtec, where I had the invaluable opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the electrical industry. Premtec operated three main departments; electrical, fire and security, and fire extinguishers. I was initially recruited to hang fire doors for the fire and security department. I was advised when joining that I would also need to support other departments, as fitting fire doors was limited work. At first I was tasked with helping to install fire alarms, then moved over to the electrical department. I then asked the director if I could attend college to study electrical systems and it was agreed. Premtec not only allowed me one day off per week to attend college but also generously contributed towards my tuition fees.Over the course of my apprenticeship, I worked on a wide variety of contracts across the UK. These experiences ranged from industrial facilities like Spalding Power Station to high-security sites such as government buildings, the British transport police headquarters, and police stations. I was also involved in projects at schools, colleges and facilities within the Job Centre Plus Group.In addition, I worked on commercial and corporate sites in the private sector, some notable projects included Batemans Opticians, Nature’s Way Foods in Selsey and Random House Publishing in London. I also contributed to the maintenance and upgrading of historic properties like Wilton Park in Steyning and Ashdown House in Hastings, where sensitivity to the preservation of the site was as critical as the technical execution of the work.Throughout my apprenticeship, I honed my skills in the design, installation, commissioning, and testing of various electrical systems. To further enhance my expertise, I undertook additional training courses in fire alarm systems, fire extinguisher maintenance, security alarm installations, emergency lighting, CCTV systems, Cat 5/6 data installations, and door access systems.
