A dedicated third-year Marine Biology (MSc) student with a passion for curiosity and a strong willingness to learn.Due to begin a work placement with Senckenberg German Centre for Biodiversity Research (DMZB) from 1st October 2024.My research interests lie in the evolutionary biology, functional morphology, and associated ecology of deep-sea fauna, along with DHAB and hydrothermal vent ecology. However, I am always willing to expand my knowledge by learning new concepts in other important areas of marine ecological research, while also being open to other fields of marine science - such as environmental consultancy.I possess a broad scientific skillset including practical field and laboratory skills, as well as a range of analytical skills. I am always looking to improve my skillset and am currently further developing it through the completion of my degree, in which I am averaging First Class grades. It has allowed me to gain experience carrying out fieldwork aboard both small boats and large research vessels, and in a range of habitats from saltmarshes and mudflats on the Eastern US Coast to rocky intertidal shores along the North Wales coast. I have also become proficient and comfortable working in a laboratory as part of a team and as an individual.My experience as a Part-Time Sales Assistant at Aqualush Limited has allowed me to develop strong interpersonal communication skills, along with gaining experience working with a range of tropical marine vertebrates and invertebrates. I have gained familiarity with - and insight into - the behaviours and ex situ keeping of many coral-reef-inhabiting species.Volunteering as part of the Bangor University Boxing Club's Executive Committee has allowed me to further develop interpersonal skills. I have become confident when speaking and teaching in front of a large group and one-on-one. Throughout my time as a committee member I have helped build the club into a robust community through contributing to decision making processes and using my communication and organisational skills. By the end of my term, we regularly hosted over 20 members per session, approximately double that of when I was first elected.During my A-Levels I took the time to write the winning entry for the ocean-themed Big Oxplore Essay Competition in 2020. During my free time I am an avid gym-goer, who considers weight training a hobby, and I am also learning to speak German.
