My duties from the Corporate Safety Office are to dedicate my knowledge and skill set to a 11,000+ Employee Company. My primary role is to serve as an internal occupational safety consultant; this task includes:• Making recommendations on the correction of unsafe practices and conditions.• Update and/or develop regulatory safety programs and training development (sometimes this task includes program administration and training coordination).• Perform training on safety topics including, but not limited to, regulatory facility inspections, IIPP, fall protection, construction safety, tunneling safety, heat stress, and job safety analysis.• Participation in joint labor and management safety efforts with affected LADWP unions.• Conduct job hazard assessments.• Development of Standard Operating Procedures.• Development and audits of material specifications for personal protective equipment as well as other safety related equipment such as fall protection equipment.• Conduct incident investigations that include, but are not limited to, inspecting equipment involved, interviewing witnesses, and reporting findings to management.• Follow up on employer’s reports of accident or injury as well as other safety related employee, management, and union concerns.• Conduct field/facility inspections to ensure regulatory compliance. • Conduct research and make recommendations on safety related equipment.• Receive and report reportable injuries to Cal/OSHA as well as interact as a LADWP liaison with Cal/OSHA enforcement at LADWP jobsites/locations and assist in document request.• Assist in developing LADWP code of safe practices.• Serve as Contract Administrator and subject matter expert for multi-million dollar Corporate Safety training contracts.• Public Access Defibrillator program coordinator for LADWP.

Conduct incident investigations that include but are not limited to: inspecting equipment involved, interviewing witnesses, and reporting findings to management. Following up on unsafe condition reports, employer’s reports of accident or injury, IAQ employee concerns as well as other safety related employee concerns. Conduct ergonomic evaluations that include but are not limited to: evaluating the employees’ workstation, chair set up, and if applicable alternate workstation. Perform training on safety topics including but not limited to: Ergonomics, HAZCOM, Hearing Conservation, and Traffic Control/Flagging. Perform and log monthly instrument calibration. Managed safety programs - including training development – in the following topics: HAZCOM Program, Trenching & Shoring Program, and Traffic Safety. Currently manage safety programs - including training development – in the following topics: Commercial Driver Program, Fleet Safety Program, Crane & Hoist Program, Industrial Truck Program, First Aid/CPR and Blood Born Pathogens Program, Facility Inspection Coordinator, Lab Safety, The Department of Public Works (DPW) “Safety Awards” safety Incentive Program, and Heavy Equipment Program.Oversee and review the DPW weekly Safety Tips. Conduct field monitoring using air and sound personal monitoring devices. Conduct field/facility inspections to ensure compliance with Cal/OSHA standards. Conduct field/facility inspections to identify potential exposure to hazardous substances that require the use of personal protection devices. Conduct research and make recommendations on safety related products. Developed safety policies and procedures on Tire Branding and Cleaning UST spill buckets. Revised the DPW On The Job Training Program for Heavy Equipment. Created a daily inspection checklist for the DPW excavating, trenching, and shoring activities. Have served on the DPW safety subcommittee for Traffic Safety.

Provided quarterly safety assessments to evaluate the status of environmental, health and safety compliance programs at the facility, to provide each client with a prioritized list of environmental health and safety concerns for corrective action, if any. The assessment consisted of a site visit, on-site records review, selected employee interviews, and an off-site regulatory review. The assessment results are presented in a report.
