Department Of Mathematics

Responsibilities include teaching three undergraduate mathematics courses and coordinating Math 129 : PreCalculus. Coordination tasks include developing curriculum, implementing computer based resources, coordinating instructional staff, and managing the course across sections during the academic year. Additional coordinating responsibilities include assessing learning outcomes, student abilities and learning orientations, efficacy of course design and processes, and applying insights gained to enhance instructions across the course.

Responsibilities included designing, planning, and delivering course content and assessing and evaluating student work in two undergraduate mathematics courses per semester. Courses included College Algebra and Number and Algebra for Elementary Education Majors. Additional responsibilities included assisting with the WvEB Mathematics and Elementary Math Specialist outreach projects.

Responsibilities included assisting with WvEB Algebra and WvEB Trigonometry Outreach projects by exploring connections between the State and National Content Standards and Objectives and completing administrative tasks in support of the Course Coordinator. Additional responsibilities included assisting with the Blue Ribbon Robotics and Gaming Project through set up and management of the communication shell on e-campus as well as becoming familiar with The Tabula Digita Gaming Package in an effort to best support participants.

Responsibilities included designing, planning, and delivering course content and assessing and evaluating student work. Courses taught included the pre-collegiate mathematics workshop and a mathematics content for elementary education students.

Planned and taught courses in Pre-Calculus, Honors Pre-Calculus, Geometry, Algebra 1, Algebra 2, and a computer programming course in C++. Regularly adapted teaching methods to accommodate a large range in ability levels among students by implementing cooperative learning assignments, “real world” applications, “hands on” activities, and technology.

Institute For Math Learning

Responsibilities included supervising, hiring, and training all undergraduate and graduate student workers; scheduling and directing laboratory sessions of College Algebra, Trigonometry, and Pre-Calculus; Co-coordinating the department’s Graduate Teaching Seminar, and co-coordinating and team teaching College Algebra Applications Course.

Planned and taught undergraduate courses in College Algebra, Trigonometry, Pre-calculus with computer laboratories, Algebra with computer laboratories, Business Calculus, Calculus I, and a graduate course in Discrete Mathematics. Class sizes ranged from 30 –200 students.
