Worked as the Interim Director of Domestic Violence Services simultaneously for 2 years. Managing the operations and programs of St. Vincent de Paul Society including administration, existing policies with procedures written to strengthen the organization, its mission, and ensure positive outcomes. Advise the Executive Director of challenges, providing solutions, assisting in the implementation of the organization’s strategic objectives to improve the functionality of programs, making them more sustainable, and expanding where possible. Offer support to the departments and Program Directors by working closely with them at site locations to improve operational efficiencies. The programs include the MSC - the largest homeless shelter in Northern California with a 24-hour Drop-In Center, Division Circle a Navigation Center, and the Riley Center – a domestic violence program that includes transitional housing, an emergency shelter, and our Community Office.

Promoted to Lead Family Advocate/Children's Case Manager after only 4 months of employment; working at the Community Office and the confidential shelter (emergency and transitional housing) to work with domestic violence victims and families at the Riley Center (a division of St. Vincent de Paul). Working with families (mostly children) utilizing motivational interviewing, harm reduction therapy, client centered need assessments, and service / care plans to empower and motivate my clients to achieving their goals. Provide emotional guidance/counseling, educational assistance and supportive services to children and their families to help reduce the effects of trauma and promote healing. Providing housing advocacy, case management and supportive services for all domestic violence survivors and their families while they increase their self-sufficiency and personal safety. Act as outreach and liaison to sustain positive working relationships with community service providers, such as mental health, social services, and health care agencies. Monitoring clients for progress and ongoing participation in the program. Participate in case management meetings. Committed to and attend continuing education and trainings regularly to in relevant fields to provide improved services to clients and develop a social work toolkit. Assist Volunteer Coordinator in training and supervising volunteers in the required 40 hours domestic violence training. Plan, coordinate, and implement programs, services and events for the clients of the Riley Center.

Hired as the Family Advocate/Children's Case Manager to work with domestic violence victims and families at the Riley Center's Community Office (a division of St. Vincent de Paul); clients are referred to The Riley Center by FCS or by drop in. Share in the coordination, implementation and development of the Riley Center Children's Program and services. Conduct individual counseling, play/educational activities, child care, case management and advocacy with families. Utilize client-centered needs assessments, service plans and motivational interviewing to empower and motivate clients toward achieving goals related to housing, childcare, employment, benefits, legal services and other needs. Maintain and compile client records and service documentation, including active participation in staff and case management meetings. Link families to other services such as job training, credit counseling, Cal Fresh, or similar programs that promotes engagement. Completed several online and in-person trainings that include, domestic violence and substance abuse, Introduction to Motivational Interviewing, youth suicidal assessment, promoting health social and emotional learning and development, spiritual abuse and trauma responsiveness among LBGTQ & youth in foster care, transforming vicarious traumatization for child welfare professionals, and the CA mandated reporter training for social workers, child care professionals and school personnel

Volunteering at St. Vincent de Paul Society to gain experience while also looking for employment in the social services field. As the operations manager, I wore many hats which depended primarily on what was required for the day. Whether it was management of staff or special projects, administrating the many requirements for employees through human resources, complying with governmental agencies and policy requirements for our corporate structures, understanding the IT systems we had implemented (or when they needed improvement) or just some general accounting work for the P&L. I strive to make all aspects of my work be focused and meaningful, by using sound judgment, and a commitment to the organization and its people. For the U.S. business operations, my responsibilities included guiding and supporting a twelve person office, including supervisory and management over support staff. Some projects I really enjoyed and am proud of are... planning, organizing, and executing the relocation of the operations on two separate occasions, completing both transfers in 3 days (over the weekends) and minimizing operational down time. That was a challenge! But I think my favorite project I worked on was coordinating, managing, and overseeing the construction of our office space in the Embarcadero Center; I was able to provide an efficient, comfortable work space for all the employees and the reduction of office space square footage by 23%.

Bridged relationships and communications among staff, lawyers, and clients.
