From music school and my family's farm, to tall ship sailing and the Coast Guard, I developed practical skills in a wide range of occupations. My work in agriculture and the commercial maritime industry put me in touch with the realities of the physical world and heightened my appreciation for blue collar workers. As a tall ship sailor, rower, cadet, and musician, I lead my peers and colleagues in professional, recreational, and academic activities, finding success in every realm and developing my leadership capabilities. Upon graduation from the academy, I will be commissioned into the USCG as an officer where I will be in charge of officers and enlisted personnel of varying walks of life and experience.
