Train officer and enlisted students in the science and engineering fundamental to the design, operation and maintenance of naval nuclear propulsion plants.The naval nuclear program is widely acknowledged as having the most demanding academic program in the U.S. military. Academics proceed at a rapid pace with high academic standards enforced in all subjects. Students typically spend 40-45 hours per week in the classroom with an additional 10 to 35 hours per week of study outside of lecture hours.

I am currently an Ensign (O-1) stationed at Naval Nuclear Power Training Command as an Officer Nuclear Power Student.

Prior to heading to Navy Nuclear Power School, I am temporarily working with the USNA Mechanical and Nuclear Engineering Department. In this role, I support professors and staff members by using MATLAB and SolidWorks to design solutions and support their classroom teachings.

Assistant Company Officer (ACO) is a temporary billet that can be assigned to temporary assigned duty (TAD) ensigns and second lieutenants. As an ACO, naval officers are responsible for the health, morale, welfare, and training of incoming freshmen and the detail staff in charge of training the new class of Midshipmen.

Attached to Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division (NSWCDD), Department E10 High Energy Laser (HEL) Weapon Systems, Branch E11 - Laser Weapon System Technology and Lethality as a project intern. The intern provided support and assistance to the laser lethality team by assisting in setting up test articles and text fixtures, and documenting and analyzing high energy laser interaction with materials under test. The intern also learned test and evaluation procedures, as well as how laboratory testing influences field testing which helps define tactics, techniques, and procedures that affect how laser systems are used in the fleet.
