I am a professionally qualified youth worker. My career started in 2008, with the Mount Wise Youth Project, volunteering with young People from Devonport, Plymouth, one of the most socioeconomically disadvantaged areas in England. The project ignited my passion to become an advocate for those young people, who are undervalued by society. From this work I was able to start an apprenticeship with Plymouth Youth Service, continuing from that as a Youth Support Worker. Furthermore, completing my BA (Hons) in Youth and Community work at Marjon University, Plymouth.In my ten plus years in Youth Work I have accumulated a breadth of knowledge and experience. My most notable experience was with OutYouth, an LGBTQ+ group. Along with Plymouth Young Carers Project, and Eggbuckland ‘Dreamsceme’, a community and inter-generational project. As well as working with young people in youth centres, schools and doing detached street work.In 2018 I started with Youth Focus South West, where I have been a Professional Youth Worker, primarily working 1:1 with students at Devonport High for Boys and accepted the role as Non-Executive Director in 2019.
