    Environmental Advisor
Mermaid Marine Australia Limited May 2010 - Jun 2011
    Perth, Australia
Following my time as a consultant Environmental Scientist for URS Australia, I took a position as Environmental Advisor for Mermaid Marine Australia, a large (ASX 200 listed) petroleum support company. Being the only environmental professional with the company, I was solely responsible for all aspects of environmental management for the corporation, including environmental approvals, compliance with Ministerial and Licensing conditions, fleet and site auditing, development of an Environmental Management System (EMS) and promoting environmental awareness for the Dampier Supply Base, Slipway and Vessel Fleet. Here, I was able to build on the environmental knowledge that I had established while working as an Environmental Scientist and apply it to a business context. During this time, I was recognised internally as the focal point for any issues in relation to environmental management. I was also recognised externally, with invitations to become active member of the Burrup Users Group Committee, Dampier Technical Advisory and Consultative Committee (TACC) for Dredging and Sea Dumping and the Dampier Port Authority Marine Oil Pollution Committee. As a result of being recognised as a leader in this area, I was able to gain respect and credibility for environmental management at Mermaid Marine and to achieve the organisational objectives. In addition to environmental compliance and approvals, I also became proficient at reporting against environmental programs such as Energy Efficiency Opportunities, National Pollution Inventory and National Greenhouse and Energy Reporting in addition to the development and implementation of a companywide EMS to the standard of ISO14001.
