Using AutoCAD, 12D and GIS for the preparation and presentation of subsurface utility information, across varied projects from small sections of road to major infrastructure developments. Work consisted of processing and presentation of underground asset information. Field data on subsurface assets would be captured by utility locators and surveyors and the collected information would be processed in CAD to Australian Standard AS5488 and presented in a variety of formats to suit client requirements. Key achievements:- Automating the processing of survey data using python scripts to check / validate field information, reducing preliminary data processing to a quarter of previous times.- Establishing methods to process and QA data in 3D including streamlining the preparation of cross sections and working with data in a 3D model.- Preparing drafting and GIS systems for work in the GDA2020 datum and transitioning to the latest Australian standard (AS5488-2019).Other aspects of the role include:- Training other staff on CAD procedures and survey codes.- Working with clients and staff from numerous backgrounds and in multiple office locations, including field workers, office staff, consultants; educating about the potential capabilities of output data.- Providing technical / IT support to other staff.

Preparation of drawings, plans and maps for an extractive industry consultancy, covering the disciplines of geology, town planning, environmental management. Supporting consultants across multiple office locations and providing drafting services to clients. Trained and supervised other draftsmen, and supported other CAD-using staff (surveyors, drone pilots, and engineers).Drafting work included:• Town planning overlays, such as government GIS data over site maps.• Resources information in consultation with geologists, including quarry pit design, resource assessments, and geological cross sections. • Environmental drawings and maps, including detailed design drawings of quarry site environmental controls.• Using survey data captured by surveyors and drone pilots, for the calculation of stockpile volumes and setup of maps showing data.Additional key projects:• Developing and implementing a company drafting procedures manual.• Delivering training to company staff on a new document management system, • Training company staff on how to use software. For example, Google Earth with government data add-ons such as the Queensland Globe.• Management of CAD software licences.• Assisting staff with IT / technical support issues.• Preparation of visualizations of quarry development (artist impressions of quarry design).

Supporting an office with over 70 geotechnical and environmental staff, as well as supporting other offices without drafting staff and other Coffey service lines. Drafting work included plotting site investigation information, generation of geotechnical cross sections, design of bunds and dam walls to engineer specifications. Additional work included training to other draftsmen. Also developed scripts to automate and streamline drafting processes.
