He is a current board member and Treasurer of Newcastle Historic Reserve Trust, that are charged with the preservation of the historic buildings of Hunter Street, including the former Newcastle police station, “The Lock-Up” that is opened to the public as a contemporary art space. Luke’s work is heavily influenced by his individual creative expertise and skills in photography and video production. His photographic portfolio has been recognised with honours from the Melbourne Design Awards and the State Library of Queensland Spirit of Woodford Award. His ethnographic collection documenting Melbourne’s bohemian spirit was recently purchased by the State Library of Victoria.

From surfing he quickly progressed into major photographic projects with musicians across the country and collaborated with international labels such as Atlantic Records, Sony Music and Universal Records in London.Upon moving to Australia in 2008 he continued working alongside record labels and management companies producing press and documentary-style photographs. Most notably, Luke’s work in the Australian music scene included collaborations with the Waifs, Jeff Lang, Jordie Lane, The John Steel Singers, Megan Washington, Yves Klein Blue and Kate Miller Heidke.In 2008, Luke worked on a major photographic project This City Speaks To Me in collaboration with creative professionals at Studio Number 9. Captured through Luke’s lens, This City Speaks To Me documents Australian bohemia. In 2014 it was accepted into the State Library of Victoria’s collection and formed part of the library’s Bohemian Melbourne exhibition, with Luke being one of the only living artist included.Luke continues to work on select photographic projects throughout the world.

TreasurerNewcastle Historic Reserve Trust Jul 2013 - Feb 2021Newcastle, AustraliaThe Newcastle Historic Reserve Trust is charged with maintaining, managing and opening up to the public several historic buildings along Hunter street within Newcastle's East end. The trust is also responsible for housing and funding The Lock-Up, a contemporary art space located within the buildings. Since 2013, Luke’s, the board’s and The Lock-Up’s internal teams involvement in the space has been successful at generating substantial grants through Arts NSW and Crown Lands. They have also notably won an industry MAPDA award from their Museum and Gallery peers throughout Australia. Luke was appointed as Treasurer in July 2013 and served on the board for 7 years.
