In 2005, Luke pursued his first passion and started his own photographic freelance business.Luke’s solo career commenced with surfing photography in Cornwall, UK. From surfing he quickly progressed into major photographic projects with musicians across the country and collaborated with international labels such as Atlantic Records, Sony Music and Universal Records in London.Upon moving to Australia in 2008 he continued working alongside record labels and management companies producing press and documentary-style photographs. Most notably, Luke’s work in the Australian music scene included collaborations with the Waifs, Jeff Lang, Jordie Lane, The John Steel Singers, Megan Washington, Yves Klein Blue and Kate Miller Heidke.In 2008, Luke worked on a major photographic project This City Speaks To Me in collaboration with creative professionals at Studio Number 9. Captured through Luke’s lens, This City Speaks To Me documents Australian bohemia. In 2014 it was accepted into the State Library of Victoria’s collection and formed part of the library’s Bohemian Melbourne exhibition, with Luke being one of the only living artist included.Luke continues to work on select photographic projects throughout the world.

The Newcastle Historic Reserve Trust is charged with maintaining, managing and opening up to the public several historic buildings along Hunter street within Newcastle's East end. The trust is also responsible for housing and funding The Lock-Up, a contemporary art space located within the buildings. Since 2013, Luke’s, the board’s and The Lock-Up’s internal teams involvement in the space has been successful at generating substantial grants through Arts NSW and Crown Lands. They have also notably won an industry MAPDA award from their Museum and Gallery peers throughout Australia. Luke was appointed as Treasurer in July 2013 and served on the board for 7 years.

The Bohemian Masquerade Ball is the vanguard for a whole sub-culture of junkyard heroes, gentleman punks, flâneurs, neo-vaudeville and circus performers.A bi-annual boutique festival, running since 2007, it is recognised as the grand carnival of underground culture … a debauched boiling-pot of independent music, extreme circus, neo-vaudeville and art installations. In 2009 the Director of The Bohemian Masquerade Ball engaged Luke as the Media Director for the festival’s east-coast tour of Australia. Luke was in charge of the marketing, advertising and promotion of the festival and used a range of online and social media platforms.

Luke Kellett, and Sarah Cook, founded Studio No 9 (SN9) in 2008, a boutique collective of artists, designers, photographers and filmmakers specialising in small and medium-sized creative projects for various cultural events. During his time at SN9 Luke was responsible for client and account management, studio and artist management, collation and execution of creative briefs, managing deadlines and budgets, strategic planning and media placement.As a director, Luke worked on a number of projects including a photographic documentation entitled This City Speaks To Me. The collaborative project involved organisers of The Bohemian Masquerade Ball, Being Films and creative agency, Headjam (now owned and directed by Luke and Sarah).

Lee Williams founded Rapid Eye in 1996 as an affordable London colour print darkroom, where photographers could experiment with ideas and techniques.Luke commenced an apprenticeship with Rapid Eye whilst pursuing his freelance photography career. As an apprentice, Luke worked alongside master colour printer Lee Williams, developing skills and expertise in colour management and C-type printing. During his time Luke had the opportunity to work with a number of London’s finest photographers including George Ktistakis, Sarah Maingot and Tim Walker.
