Embedded in NOAA’s Thunder Bay National Marine Sanctuary and the Great Lakes Environmental Research Lab (GLERL), I am part of a NOAA team implementing the federal Great Lakes B-WET program. I support program administration by facilitating the granting process, and managing grant data and reporting. I facilitate meetings and perform outreach and communicate with program participants. I also create and manage content for websites, social media, and other promotional outlets for the regional program. I represent B-WET at relevant regional or national meetings.

As the Program Manager for the Great Lakes Commons (GLC), I implemented a campaign to establish the Great Lakes as an equitable water commons. I collaborated with organizations and community leaders on projects where freshwater, social/cultural, and economic challenges intersect. I provided program coordination, including meeting facilitation, financial/grants management, project implementation, and strategic planning. I held virtual webinars and in-person events with our partners to implement projects, build our network, and share knowledge. I managed communications, online outreach, and supporter recruitment using our website, MailChimp, and social media. I also coordinated and facilitated monthly meetings for GLC’s leadership team to direct priorities and goals.

Harbor Springs, Michigan

As the Great Lakes Policy Specialist in the Natural Resources Department of the Tribal Government, I developed a new water policy program for the Tribe and serve as an expert on Great Lakes issues to a citizen commission. Duties included: federal and state policy review; representative on committees related the Great Lakes environmental issues, including EPA's Lake Michigan LAMP and the Great Lakes Executive Committee; Climate change planning; environmental strategy and campaign development; work at the local, state, tribal, and federal level to address environmental concerns; coordination within multi-partner initiatives; develop opportunities to address climate change (adaptation and mitigation planning); fisheries policies including Treaty Rights; environmental education and engagement; develop and write the Great Lakes Policy Report for educational purposes; grant management.

I managed 3,000 acres of public parkland and trails. I coordinated, and implemented a land management work plan, including invasive species removal, trail, and soil erosion restoration, and created and distributed educational materials. I worked with others in a cooperative setting, as well as independently. I regularly used heavy machinery in the field, including chainsaws and augers.
