I am the founding Artistic Director of Lab Kelpie: An Australian New Writing Theatre Company, responsible for developing it from an ad hoc, project-by- project collective in 2012 to an acclaimed, incorporated not-for-profit independent company today, with a dynamic, gutsy staff of four and a board of experienced and passionate industry professionals.“One of Australia’s most exciting independent theatre companies on the rise” (The Music, 2016), Lab Kelpie has so far presented nearly 250 performances to 18,000 audience members in over 85 disparate venues across Australia and New Zealand, and delivered numerous school and community workshops, masterclasses and engagement activities.The company runs script developments and provides dramaturgical services for playwrights, publishes high quality scripts of original new Australian works through its publishing arm, Lab Kelpie Press, and provides top quality resources and learning opportunities to students and communities via its Lab Kelpie Education projects. The newly established Lab Kelpie Digital arm commissions new work or adapts existing theatrical property into video, audio and (soon) gaming formats, and provides pathways for playwrights to train and work in the wider enterainment industries.
