• Handling media enquiries from local, national and international media on all aspects of crime in the Strathclyde force area• Preparing statements, media appeals, communication strategies to help solve various crimes – ranging from lower level crime to high profile murder inquiries• Organising and facilitating press conferences – regularly attended by national media• Liaising with senior management to ensure a consistent and positive message was delivered at all times• Crisis management – attending major incidents and dealing with media enquiries for high profile events • Attending regular desk top and live play exercises along with partner organisations to ‘rehearse’ correct media strategy in the event of major incidents• Working alongside senior officers in various departments including drugs, human trafficking, child protection to pro-actively promote the Force’s priorities / key messages to national media• Regular contact with the Crown Office, Scottish Government and other partner organisations • Dealing with Crimewatch, production companies and documentary makers to assist in the delivery of programmes• Managing and facilitating Scottish and UK wide broadcast media during filming

• Delivering media coverage for major Scottish brands including IRN-BRU and Tennent’s Lager• Working on creative campaigns for a variety of organisations including World Pipe Band Championships, Nairn’s, Princes Square, Strathmore Water and Old Pulteney Whisky• Regular contact with senior management in the Scottish Football League and Scottish managers, Chief Executives in the 1st, 2nd and 3rd divisions through IRN-BRU’s SFL sponsorship• Organising photocalls and managing media interviews with players / managers of the month• Event management and client support for major events including the End of Season awards ceremony• Liaising with a variety of retailers and head offices – including Vivienne Westwood’s flagship Scottish store – to create newsworthy material • Organised and interviewed Editors and News Editors in every Scottish print and broadcast media to get a better understanding of what they are looking for from PR companies
