Backend developer for www.cancermodels.org, an open catalogue for patient-derived cancer models.- Reimplemented ETL originally written as a Spring Boot project. Reimplementation uses Python with Apache Spark and Luigi as the pipeline orchestrator manager. With that the process can be run in a cluster and the release process decreased from days to less than 1 hour.- Migrated the graph Neo4J database to PostgreSQL to better fulfil new requirements in the application.- Reimplemented internal tool to allow a curator to do annotation tasks that are important for the release process in a more efficient way, and sometimes automatically. The new solution uses React in the frontend and the backend (Java) was improved by using Apache Lucene to help in the annotation process.
