About Maaike Bruggeling
My name is Maaike, I'm 28 years old and I currently work at CGI as an UX Designer since august 2018. In March 2018 I graduated my study Communication and Multimedia Design at De Haagse Hogeschool. Through my study I learned a lot of different skills and I also gained a lot of experiences of 'volunteering work' at my study association. Nowadays, at CGI, I'm responsible for the user experience of different systems in the government sector. My work as a UX Designer has a lot of variety every day but my main goal is to create the best user experience for all kind of users. And with ‘all kind of users’ I also mean users with disabilities. I don’t want to exclude anyone; a digital solution should be usable for everyone. At CGI we have a UX Academy. With two of my CGI colleagues, we develop and deliver UX training sessions. Through these training sessions we want to give UX more maturity inside our organisation. In my free time I like to do one of my creative hobbies like photography. I'm also a fan of sports like sailing, skiing and going to the gym.
Listed skills include Html, Css, Jquery, Javascript, and 15 others.

Founder Neptunion
In 2015 I got an assignment to build a website for a company. I really liked doing that and decided to find my own company. So I started Neptunion, a webdesign and webdevelopment company. Since I started I’ve designed and developed a lot of websites for different companies. I also made some posters, flyers and business cards. Neptunion can deliver the whole package for each client.
Chairman Taskforce Wintersport
Being president of the study association for a year was long enough but I didn’t had the feeling I was done yet. So I decided to be the chairman of the Taskforce Wintersport and I organised a skitrip for another year. We went to Val Thorens in France with 70 students.
Chairman
After attending a lot of different commissions as member and president I decided to do something else. I signed up to be the president of the board of the whole study association. This would be a really good experience for me to develop myself socially and communication oriented. Together with the other members of the board we focussed at the beginning of our board year on our policy, where did we wanted to go as a study association, what did we find really important? Our focus was on the study in stead of fun activities like drinks. One of the most important things to achieve our policy was to connect with the docents of the studies Communication and Multimedia Design and HBO-ICT. So we held a lot of meetings with different teachers. We worked really hard to achieve this and we made a lot of progress. Our change really worked out and the focus on the study was more visible every day. We had a meeting with our board once a week, every 2 weeks we had a meeting with the presidents of the commissions and 4 times in this year I was the chairman of the General Member Meeting for the whole association. It made a lot of personal process this year and grew a lot as a person, it was kind of a fulltime job which never ended. Show less
Chairman Activity Commission
After being in the communication commission I’d been asked by the board of SIM to be the president of the Activities Commission at the study association. This was a whole other experience because I was responsible for organising the events I promoted before. Together with a team of 8 members we organised different fun activities and drinks for SIM. I also had a lot of meetings with the other presidents and my own commission.
Member Taskforce Wintersport
In my first study year I attended the ski trip from the study association. I really liked this and wanted to organise the next ski trip the year after. So I signed up as a member of the Taskforce Wintersport and I’d been chosen to attend. With a team of 5 people we organised a skitrip for 50 students to a place in France called Le Corbier. Chairman Communication Commission
After a year as member of the Communication Commission I became the president of this commission. I worked with a team of 6 members to think of ways to promote the activities of the study association. This could be posters, flyers or some playful promotion. I attended to a lot of meetings, once in the 2 weeks I had a meeting with presidents of other commissions and each month I had a meeting with my commission. I learned a lot about beging a chairman during meetings.
Member Communication Commission
In my first study year I joined the study association SIM. I was invited to join the Communication Commission as a member. I was responsible with 5 other members for the promotion of activities organised by other commissions at SIM. I’ve made a lot of posters and flyers to promote these activities.
Graduation Internship Interaction Design
I did my graduation internship at the digital agency Mirabeau. My graduation problem was about creating a way to give Interaction Designers insights at hard of hearing and deaf users of different systems. I’ve started this project by doing research to the hard of hearing and deaf users. After this I interviewed the Interaction Designers to see how far they were with having insights about people with a disability. Design, Ux & Front-End
At InternetDiensten Nederland I had the title Design, UX and Front-end developer. I worked for 10-15 hours each week at this company next to my study. I designed websites, logos and business cards and next to this I determined the UX on a website with users and clients and I was the Front-end developer for my own designed websites. We build the websites with Joomla, which I already learned in my internship.
Intern Ict & Webdesign
As an intern on my first internship at Edit4u I had a lot of different tasks. I made web designs in Photoshop and Illustrator and developed these designs with Joomla and Bootstrap. This was the first time I came in contact with Front-end Development and I also liked to do this. I’ve learned HTML and CSS and also some PHP and jQuery.
Cmd Project Employee
SmartInstall was my first job where I could use my knowledge from my study Communication & Multimedia Design. SmartInstall had a project where they builded a system for mechanics and clients. In a team with developers I helped this project. I attended meetings to think about the structure and navigation of this system, after this I made some basic sketches and wireframes.
